Definitely a Bright Light

I really like this flashlight, but the only problem I have is that it doesn't come with a rechargeable battery already installed. It was sent with the Coast AAA batteries. The AAA batteries are good, but they didn't last very long in the brightest mode. I'd say they lasted about 10 minutes of continuous use. Otherwise, this is a great flashlight. The brightest mode is definitely my favorite feature. I just wish it lasted longer and that the rechargeable battery was included.

My new "fav" flashlight!

The new GX20 flashlight is one of my new favorites. Its size is ideal: small enough to be carried around easily in your pants or coat pocket: easy to grip and handle. It has a good range of focus from a bulls-eye to flood beam and also offers three levels of light intensity low, medium and high. It takes 4 AAA alkaline batteries (included) or you can purchase an "optional" ZITHION-X rechargeable battery. I used it for about 4 hours on low power recently during a storm-related power outage and it performed flawlessly with plenty of power to spare after the power was restored. It carries the dependable lifetime warranty offered by Coast

Powerful & Compact

I've had this light for about a week now and have nothing negative to say about it. The spot/flood adjustment works beautifully. The low power mode is great for minimal illumination where the turbo mode punches out a significant distance. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good all-around light.

Great general purpose flashlight

The GX20 has several standout features. The price is right, so you won't fuss about actually using it. It's very lightweight without seeming cheap or fragile. It's waterproof, which is essential. It's bright, with various modes to cycle through.
This is not a boutique flashlight. It's a fairly priced workhorse.

Perfect flashlight all around

The light is incredible. Great no slip feel. It is now my go to light for all purposes. It sits in that utility drawer in the kitchen and is ready anytime it is needed. Need another for the glove box. Adjustable beam focus that can convert to rechargeable battery’s if needed.

* A nice array of lighting modes with high lumen output at a low price point.
* Excellent engineering from Coast in an affordable package.
* Optional rechargeable battery option.
* The deeply recessed lighting switch is safer.
* It has a nice rubberized grip feel in the hand yet doesn't feel like material that will degrade quickly.

I got this light when it was just released and Coast doesn't appear to include written instructions anymore so pay attention to the link to instructions on the back of the packaging before you throw the packaging away. I've included a photo in this review of the QR code and link I found on the back of the package to where Coast posts instructions.
In terms of usage, in my personal experience using the light I found that each click of the power button cycled through the lighting modes. Turning off the light and returning later I found it defaulted to medium lighting mode with no memory of the prior mode utilized. Turbo mode appeared to scale down to lower power after 1.5 minutes.
While I didn't test the water resistance to IP67 depths and times, I dunked the light in a foot of water for 15 minutes and it had no issues. I've already dropped this light from about 3 feet while working on a car with no issues.
This is another well engineered light from Coast. While I prefer their much more expensive professional lights for daily automotive repair work (the XPR lineup is amazing) this light is a great introduction to Coast quality. It would make an excellent vehicle or bugout bag light where you are more interested in keeping it paired with regular batteries that will hold their charge longer. Since I already have some Polysteel lights for bugout bags this is going to become a vehicle glove compartment flashlight which the deeply recessed power switch is well suited to.
