Worn our trimer head in one season!
on May 27, 2025
Posted by: Anonymous
Bought string trimmer Nov 2024 and first year was great. Second summer the trimmer had issues advancing the line. Calling support required two calls; first call I hung up after a long hold. Second time I waited 45 minutes before reaching a friendly voice only to find out my trimmer head needed to be replaced. This part was considered a wearable part and only had a 90 day warranty and not included in the 4 year warranty!! First time I EVER had to replace a trimmer head so I was not happy and the support person simply did not care. I'm not going to buy another Green Works product again since durability is clearly limited.

Hello Bill Mullen.
We are sorry to hear about this experience. Wearable parts only carry a 90-day warranty from the time of purchase. Trimmer spools are often considered consumable parts and are not typically covered under the standard warranty for the trimmer itself. This is because they are subject to wear and tear with normal use and need to be replaced periodically. A trimmer head might need replacement sooner than expected due to several factors, including bumping against hard surfaces, using incorrect trimmer line, or having a worn-out head. Over time, the head can become worn down, making it difficult to feed more line, especially when trimming thick grass or against hard surfaces. Additionally, using the wrong type or size of trimmer line, or letting the line get too short before bumping, can also contribute to head wear.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm so happy to have a yard tool i can use without needing any one else to start it for me. It's not too heavy and I am able to do yard work when I want to without depending on husband or son's to start a pull type weedeater. Easy to operate, haven't seen a downside to this yet. Great product. It's quiet, not too awkward.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Swing and a miss on this one. Difficult and dirty.

I’m sorry Greenworks, but I hate this thing. I LOVE all of my greenworks tools, but this one makes me angry every time I use it. It’s unbalanced with a battery and is difficult to balance with the shoulder strap. It spins in the wrong direction and spits debris all over your legs. I look like I hit a piñata full of grass every time I use it. It chews through string at an alarming rate. Bumping the trimmer to advance the string causes the trimmer to gouge the grass. Good luck trying to edge with it as it just tears up the lawn. Get one mm too close to the fence when trimming and say good by to half your string as it will suck it all out and wrap around the fence. I hate this thing.
Pros: Quiet, Powerful

Disappointed with the quality.

The head cover on the spool is weak and breaks quickly. Thus makes the entire trimmer USELESS! This is my second trimmer with the same problem. Greenworks need to really improve the wear parts or make them readily available to buy and replace. The motor is OK - could be stronger as it does not rotate as fast as gas.
Response from greenworkstools.comBy GreenworksJuly 28, 2025
Hello Reg Air.
Thank you for sharing your experience. The spool cover is a common wear-and-tear part and recommends having spare parts on hand for easier maintenance. You can find replacement spool caps on the Greenworks Tools website (https://www.greenworkstools.com/pages/parts-finder). Ensure you are using the correct line size for your trimmer, as using the wrong size can impact performance and potentially cause additional issues. We hope you will find this information useful. If you need any further support, our team is available to assist you. You can connect with us through Live Chat on our website at www.greenworkstools.com, or by phone at 1-888-909-6757.

Great product

I got this weed trimmer to replace my gas trimmer. I have a 13 year old who likes to mow and trim the yard, but is still learning. The gas trimmer was heavy and difficult to use for edging around the driveway and side walks. With the 60V trimmer it has made the work much easer for him and I. It is much lighter and easer to use around the driveway an side walks. I love how it has two speeds. I can set it in speed 1 and let my 13 year old have it. The lower speed keeps him from using so much string. Speed 2 offers a lot of power and would be good for cutting taller grass or thinker grass. This is a good product and would recommend this to anyone.
Pros: Convenient, Cost-Saver, Easy to Use, Quiet, Durable, Environmentally Safe, Effective, Powerful
