This now is truly a semi-professional product. The ability to change implements makes it complete. But even by itself, it is a huge improvement from the previous version (I still have) by the same maker. The variable speed control is very responsive and truly variable, meaning, I can let the string spin softly around sensitive areas likes young tree stems (e.g. freshly planted seedlings). On full throttle, the tool is very powerful. It came with a full spool of .095 string, and an additional .08 loop that I'll probably never use. But thanks. Makes it ready to go out of the box.
When using a brush cutter implement, the battery run time is severely reduced, but I'm okay with that, as I don' have to clear acres of brush. While running though, the motor provides plenty of power to go through everything I have used it on. Very happy with that functionality.
Overall, the tool is light enough to use for an extended period of time, even with a 5 AH battery, which I strongly recommend using for anything but the string trimmer feature.
The only criticism I have is the sling that comes with it. It is flimsy, does not stay on well and is too short, at least for me. (I am 6'2").

I just received it today and already gave it a workout. I am sure I will like the new string load feature and I love the strap although it isn't listed as being included. I was loaded with string and came with a small spare amount for reload. I was surprised that it was .080 instead of .095 but I trust that it is .095 as advertised. I was surprised that the 2.5 amp didn't hold a charge quite as long as I suspected but I was in some pretty heavy, tall grass and most of my cutting was at high speed. I have a 60v lawn mower and a 60v chain saw with 5 amp batteries so I may use them more often in the future.
I started out with a different 40v manufacturer many years ago but they deserted 40v for a number of years so when the motor died I switched to Greenworks 40v. That was a good decision and I now have 40v chain saw, string trimmer, tiller, pole saw, and hedge trimmer. When I lost a 120 foot pine tree last spring I knew the 40v chain saw wasn't quite up to the job so I bought the 60v saw as to help out and I just liked it a lot better, particularly the battery. Some of my 40v tools are a real chore to switch batteries on. Eventually they will all be replaced by 60v units.

This trimmer is easy to use and works great. I've used it to take down some tall grass around the house and deck, and also used it to edge my sidewalks and driveway.

The trimmer works better than a gasoline power engine trimmer. It was used one time to trim the yard, and it worked as designed. The battery uses only 1/2 the power indicator for my yard.

I love the Greenworks chainsaw and cultivator, but wish I bought the bigger trimmer. It doesn't feel like the same quality as the other products. I thought I would be fine with the cheaper trimmer, but was wrong. Way to short of line. The handle doesn't tighten well. It is awkward to use. My advise is to buy Greenworks, but not the cheapest of the options. I love the leaf blower. Just like my Geenworks chainsaw, I find myself using more because of the convenience of just popping in a battery and getting the job done.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best trimmer at this price point. With the battery installed and handle set at proper spot for your arm length it is very well balanced. I’ve had a 60v greenworks blower for seven years and the battery is still I perfect working condition.
