this the best string trimmer I have ever used. I am able to cut thru grasses that are 18" tall with no trouble. The 4ah battery really has a long run time. This is a must have.

I like the new battery charger. It is easier to insert and remove the battery. This string trimmer feels heavier than the older model I had. The new metod to feed the string into the trimmer head is great but I have problems with the string release while using it and the quality of the string sucks. It brakes constantly and I have to bump the feeding head every few steps along the grass edge. FYI, I still use the cutting string provided with the new tool. I also have to bump the feeding head 2-4 times to get the string released. The older model released the string after only one bump. It is really frustrating.

Hello MGlen. Thank you for your feedback. We understand how frustrating it can be when string feed performance is inconsistent, especially during edging where steady line advancement is important. For the 60V 16" Gen2 String Trimmer (SKU 2122802), frequent line breakage and the need for multiple bumps can often be related to line type, installation, or cutting conditions. We recommend ensuring the line is properly loaded and evenly wound in the head without overlap, as uneven winding can restrict smooth feed. If you are still using the preloaded line, you may want to try a high-quality 0.080" or 0.095" line, as thicker or more durable line can reduce breakage depending on the application. Also, avoid cutting directly against hard surfaces like concrete or fencing, as this can cause rapid wear and snapping. When bump feeding, a firm tap on a hard surface (rather than grass) typically provides more consistent line advancement. You may also find it helpful to review Greenworks instructional videos on the Greenworks Tools YouTube channel for proper line loading and trimmer head operation. If the issue continues after trying these steps, we recommend reaching back out to Greenworks support so they can review your case further and assist with next steps or potential service options. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, or by calling 1-888-909-6757.

I love this trimmer and I already have another one. However, this one a different head on it and it is extremely difficult to get the string to pass all the way through. When you're trying to restring it. I can only get it to go in from one side and it takes a lot of work and patience to get it to finally slide through. My older one does not have that problem but the head is different on it
Pros: Cost-Saver, Easy to Use, Durable

Hello Miker1212. We are sorry to hear about the difficulty you are experiencing with restringing the trimmer, and we appreciate your continued support of Greenworks. It sounds like your unit may be equipped with an S-Type trimmer head, which can require a slightly different technique compared to older styles. To help make the process easier, we recommend ensuring you are using the correct line diameter specified for your model and cutting a straight, clean edge on the line before inserting it. Try gently rotating the head while feeding the line through, as this can help align the internal channel and allow the line to pass through more smoothly. If resistance continues, check for any debris or buildup inside the eyelets that could be obstructing the path. For a step-by-step visual guide, you can reference the following video which demonstrates how to properly load line on this style of head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3UtaGkO0vI&t=53s If the issue persists, our success team would be happy to take a closer look and assist further. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, or by calling 1-888-909-6757.
