I Gave Up

Maybe it’s me, but re-stringing this thing is impossible. I’ve watched videos, taken extra care, cursed it, and whatever else I can think of, but it’s difficult and still won’t dispense string correctly for any length of time. I have several other Greenworks tools, so hate to have to switch but I need a practical string tool, and this ain’t it.
Pros: Quiet, Environmentally Safe, Powerful
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello iorr61,
Thank you for leaving a review with us. We are sorry to hear about the issues you were experiencing with your spool and restringing it. Some Bump & Feed spools can be difficult to re-string but we are here to help you. Any one of our customer experience agents would be more than happy to walk you through the re-stringing process over the phone at 1-888-909-6757 and in some cases provide videos that Greenworks creates. The manual is also a great source of information when it comes to tool maintenance.
We hope that we are able to assist you in correcting this issue and we appreciate the feedback.

60V cordless string trimmer

I got this Because the site said 65 minut run time with the 2.5 AH battery. So I ordered this setup with extra 2.5 AH battery so I would be able to work a couple hours or there about. Boy I was wrong. It also stated 50 minut charge time. But that turned into over an hour. And the run time turned int 30 minuts for each battery. So eather the site lied or the testers did. It does have plenty of power. But I can not even charge 1 battery while I am useing the other because once I use the one it needs to cool before charge then charge over an hour. SSi I would Like to know how it was tested, Did your testers actually cut grass or set on their butt for 30 minuts and cut for 30?
Pros: Powerful

Hello Larry740
We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the run time of this battery. The run time varies depending on the tool that it is being used in but also the load acting against the unit while in use along with operator technique and more. The run-time of a battery would depend on the load acting on the unit while in use (speed, terrain, unit height, grass height, and density). Please be aware that the more power being used from the string trimmer (i.e.stings trimmer speed, terrain, grass height, density, etc.), the faster the battery charge will drain. These are very rough estimates and each user's experience will be different depending on the use and condition of their batteries. The actual run time received ultimately depends on the load acting against the unit while in use along with the operator technique. We would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please contact our customer helpline at 1-888-909-6757.

Features are great, but one bad point

The only problem I've had is that the string must not have been wound properly at the factory, because one side broke off at the head fairly quickly which required removing the head, the one bad point. The head is extremely hard to remove; I had to wedge the latches open with screwdrivers to get it off. And it was impossible to get back on until I put a little grease on the inside of the case above the latch holes.
Pros: Cost-Saver, Easy to Use, Quiet, Environmentally Safe, Effective, Powerful
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good trimmer but

Good overall, but batteries are overpriced. Would like more specs as well. HP / watts of motor? RPM?

Response from greenworkstools.comBy Greenworks , August 28, 2023
Hello MoPowa
Thank you for your honest feedback! Batteries are the costliest items to manufacture and ship in any kit. Full kits including a tool, battery, and charger are priced affordably so that consumers can begin building that line of tools and move forward purchasing tool-only units. When you purchase batteries on their own, it is more notable the cost that they carry. We apologize if this is of any inconvenience to you. With no load speed you can expect 6000 / 5000 RPM. Should you have any further questions please contact us directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us on Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934

Dear Jewels,
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of the challenge you are experiencing with your string trimmer. This unit is only compatible with one trimmer head, and we do not have another trimmer head that can physically go on this trimmer. The trimmer head on this unit is made for easy replacement of the string on the spool. We understand that for some new customers this task may seem overwhelming/difficult but once they do it a few times it’s quite easy – as easy as replacing a spool. It is also cheaper and more convenient for customers to rewind the trimmer head because they can use any generic .080” trimmer line(purchased at your local hardware store) and save money on more costly replacement spools. There are two methods in which the trimmer line can be replaced. You will need approximately 15' of trimmer line at .080" inches in diameter. For the first method: Note the hash mark on the knob and the hash mark on the spool cover, while holding the spool cover in place with one hand , turn the knob until the hash mark line up with the hash mark on the spool cover. Then take the trimmer line and feed it through one of the holes in the side of the head until there is an even amount on both sides. Then wind the line into the spool by turning the knob clockwise. If you wish to readjust the line or if the line has been wound too short, push down on the knob and wind it counterclockwise. Be sure to leave about 5 inches of slack on each side of the spool. Second method: Remove the spool cover by simultaneously pushing the two tabs located on side of the spool cover. The cover should spring off, lift the spool out and feed line through hole in the center of the spool until you get an even amount of line on each side. Put the spool back in the trimmer head, making sure that both sides of the line go back into the grooves in the trimmer head, continue to hold the spool in place. Take the spool cover and put it back onto the trimmer, using both hands press down firmly to ensure that the taps lock into place, you can now rotate the knob on the spool clockwise to rewind the line back in making sure to leave the 5 inches of line on each side of the spool. If you are experiencing issues with reloading the string, we would be happy to see how we can help! Please contact us directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us on Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. We would like the opportunity to speak with you to see if we can find a solution.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great tool. I am very happy with the purchase. I had a gas powered trimmer before that could tear through a tree but was very loud and my arms would be numb from the vibration after only a few minutes. This is a dream to operate. It is very quiet and barely vibrates at all. It also has a neck strap to reduce strain on your arms even more. It was a step down in power but it still gets the job done and I look forward to using it every week.
I would recommend this to a friend!
