I've used ASUS products for years, even a couple of decades. In general I have found their products to be rugged, performant, and relatively easy to set up. I was replacing an ASUS RT-ACRH18, so I thought the new router would be a simple unplug-the-old, plug-in-the-new, and tweak the tuning a bit. I think my hubris caught up with me on this one. There is a whole world of AiMesh WiFi terminology that I didn't know, which made setting up my WiFi access point confusing. I found the 'quick start guide' to be a bit too brusque -- I downloaded the full product manual from the ASUS support site to complete the installation..
In the end, the ASUS RT-BE58U is now working along well in my network. Terminal devices are faster, some showing WiFi 6 connectivity, the highest of which they are capable. Drop-outs are non-existent. I am pleased with the overall performance of the product.

Replaced a recently-obsoleted Netgear router with this very reasonably-priced Asus model. Set-up went smoothly and our streaming TVs are no longer pausing to buffer. Easy to manage the settings within the app. Quite happy with this purchase.

We do understand your disappointment with the router and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing weak signal strength. To resolve a weak WIFI signal, place it in a central location within your home, away from walls and obstructions, keep it elevated off the floor and away from electronic devices that may cause interference. Check if the router’s security settings matches with your ISP’s modem credentials, verify if the PC or device connecting to the router is working properly and within range to the router, the router is within 30 feet to the ISP's modem, if not wired with a network cable, and ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable. Legacy devices may not work properly with WIFI-7, please check updates for these devices. Also, try to disable "Smart Connect" and try connecting these manually to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Try resetting the router and reconfigure or set up the devices. Also, we recommend updating the router's firmware if it is running with an older version.
