Keeps me focused

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are awesome to use at the gym. I have a very hard time of staying focused and finishing my workout at the jam because I'm so distracted by everything in everyone around me. These noise cancelling headphones really allow me to get into the zone and focus on what I need to do Most which is working out. They feel quite snug in my ear and I have no fears of them falling out on jog or even bending down to pick up a weight. I get about one week of use before I have to recharge them. They easily connect to my android mobile device but remember to keep them in your case because your phone will consistently try to connect even if your in your car.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Sony WF-SP800N are high quality, noise canceling wireless headphones with Alexa built-in and Google Assistant. Also provide extra bass and 360 reality audio. It has a great battery life. In practice, I found the headphones to be easy to use and to provide very good sound. Noise cancellation seemed very good. The overall sound seemed more immersive possibly due to the 360 audio. I recommend these headphones for anyone looking for high quality noise canceling headphones with a slightly more immersive sound. These are very comfortable does not hurt your ear. Some key features are secure the fit, water resistance, and excellent noise cancellation.

Great Noise Cancelling and sound: nearly flawless

I have been using these headphones for nearly three months now. They are excellent and work as advertised. I purchased these primarily for the noise cancelling and for calls and video conferencing working from home. They deliver. People are unaware I'm on a headset when I'm using them. Once they have been paired with a device, they connect to them automatically and quickly. I have a total of four devices paired with them and switching is seamless.
I have only two minor issues with them: As others have reported: i have what I think are average sized ears but they touch the inner fabric of the cups regardless of how I adjust them. It's not a deal breaker, but it is annoying. Just a minor increase in depth would fix this. The other is with the lack of aptX and aptX Low Latency support. For me, this impacts the quality of my experience with Bluetooth transmitters connected from other devices such as my Sony television and Bluray player when watching and listening to movies or television programs. The latency delay is quite noticeable. I would like to appeal to Sony to include this Codec in a future firmware update.
I would recommend this to a friend!

An “Active” Noise Cancelling Solution from Sony!
on January 20, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I finally had a chance to thoroughly test this earbuds in various settings and aspects of my lifestyle. I’m no stranger to Sony’s audio products as I first was introduced to their noise canceling audio devices with the WH1000XM2s. Those were quickly replaced with the XM3s and then this week to the XM4s. As much as I love headphones, I find them limiting in use since sometimes you can’t always wear headphones. Thankfully Sony answered the call to this dilemma with the WF1000XM3s last year! These were a bit cumbersome to securely fit in your ears and not worry about losing them even when just walking! I found the noise canceling on part with the headphones which really blew me away! However I had far to many moments of losing these since they barely sat right in my ears. They were also not moisture resistant which meant a no go for the gym! Thankfully, Sony once again answered the call with the WF-SP800N and I was given an opportunity to test these units at a marginalized cost to my wallet! I found the SF800Ns to be a bit more bass heavy compared to the WFs, however you were able to remedy that issue with the equalizer on most devices! I thoroughly enjoyed the various options Sony provided to secure these in your ears and not once did I experience potential dread at having lost or misplaced one or even both earbuds during active moments! They also had no issues of becoming wet during intense workouts at the local crossfit gym which is also reassuring! Sadly I found the active noise canceling a bit too lacking when compared to the WFs and attempts to fine tune it amounted to nothing. I also heard complaints from clients during phone calls that I sounded muffled when using the microphone on these earbuds. I think the SP800N have a place in the Sony line up of noise canceling devices however what one gains in water/sweat resistance becomes muddled with the mediocre noise canceling and muddled soundstage of the earbuds. However, it is a learning process for Sony, much like other brands, and I’m sure they will release a new revision next year that will answer all the shortcomings of this model!

Hi prospectjp,
We're thrilled that you have been using Sony products. We also appreciate your in-depth review of the WF-SP800N headphones. We're glad that it's perfect for your workouts. Your feedback about the call quality and noise canceling function is greatly appreciated. Make sure to install the latest software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance.
The noise canceling function is effective in low-frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. When you feel the noise canceling function and low-frequency sound are insufficient, change the earbuds to ones that feel more sealed. When changing the earbuds, try the earbud sizes in order from the larger sizes to the smaller sizes. The size of the left and right earbuds may be different. Check that the Adaptive Sound Control is turned off. Check the setting of the Adaptive Sound Control on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. When the Adaptive Sound Control is turned on, the noise canceling function may become insufficient.
Sony takes all feedback seriously. Rest assured that this will help us improve our products. Thanks for sharing your review and for choosing Sony!
Regards,
-Ralph

Noise cancellation.

I’ve tried switching out the pieces for noise cancellation. Yet, anything I tried wouldn’t work. Just don’t buy them for noise cancellation. They would be a perfect pair of earbuds if they were to work properly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
Response from sony.comBy Sony North America Customer Support, February 12, 2021
Hi Lemillion, Thank you for choosing Sony! We are sorry to hear that the headphones did not meet your expectations when it comes to noise-cancelling. The WF-SP800N comes with different sizes of earbuds to ensure there is a great fit for all ear sizes and an optimal noise-cancelling experience. Please use the right size according to the size of your ears. When wearing them, please gently pull on the top of your ear as you twist the earbud into your ear. This should give you a firmer hold and better noise-cancelling experience. If the earbud tips tend to come off or you feel that there are insufficient low-frequency sound and a difference in volume between the left and right units, change the earbud tips to another size to comfortably and snugly fit your left and right ears.

Lower quality when in dual device mode
on August 31, 2020

This is my third Sony high res headset I own. I bought last week mainly because of 2 new features I didn't have on WH-1000XM3. I really lowed WH-1000XM3s because excellent sound quality. On XM3 NC worked fine in the office, but sometimes had issues outside withe repeated sounds, let's see how XM4s will perform..
I use the headphones in the office and support for 2 devices is finally supported, but NOTE there is something specs and advertisements don't say. If you enable this feature the LDAC is gone and it will switch headphones to AAC 44khz/16bit only. So my question to Sony is if it would be possible to keep for example LDAC (2 channels) on phone and AAC for laptop with some future firmware update? I'm switching between modes often to enjoy TIDAL music in better quality, but another issue is that headphones don't reconnect to second device automatically. So you need to enable second device support in the menu and go to different menu to reactivate second device. Another idea to Sony: Make this as an option to button and reconnect to second last used device automatically.
Second new feature I really like is new sensor which will stop music when you take headphones off. I experienced some small issue today. Not sure if it was the trigger, but I walked with phones off my ears and heard email notification coming to headphones an then music started playing. I just moved them a bit and music stopped again.
I was hopping for redesigned touch control which is quite a pain. Maybe next time?
I have a feeling that NC is better even passive when headset is off. Comfortable to wear even outside on the street. Didn't experience any troubles like on previous model, but maybe I didn't met similar conditions yet. With XM3 the issue was for example in train when window was open and columns along the trail were creating specific noise. The headphones generated even louder noise and the only solution was turn this feature off. There are new mics inside which might hopefully prevent this situation.
So some improvements are still needed, but overall the sound quality is still outstanding and I'm still ranking 5 stars.

Best wireless headphones ever!

This past week I was looking for some headphones at my local retail store and saw a pair of these on the shelf. The second I put them on the noise canceling brought me into another world, that's the thing that originally and truly sold me on these headphones. Honestly, these are the best wireless anc headphones, and over the best wireless headphones I have ever used. Whether you are experienced in audio or just starting these are perfect for all. If you want base, you can have as much base as you could need in the extensive app, if you would like to listen to audio from more of a professional standpoint, they are completely perfect for that too. At the price point, and at the quality, and every feature packed into these headphones, they are completely worth every penny.
