Key features not reliable

AI noise cancelling function was jarring - I would only slightly change my activity or change my location by four or five steps and the noise cancelling would substantially and noticeably change; really annoying
The speak to chat feature wasn’t useful. It was too sensitive and would cut what I was listening to when singing along even though not singing very loudly.
Pros
Very good sound quality, loved the colour, long battery life
Ended up returning the Sonys and changing to BOSE 700s. Excellent service from Best Buy. No hassle when returning the Sonys.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not even close to the Hifiman Ananda BT

If you are looking for actual audiophile Bluetooth LDAC headphones then the Hifiman Ananda BT's are the best in the market by a long shot but supplement them with the XM4s for the gym, runs, etc as they are very versatile and less than half the price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I absolutely love this headphones, the noise canceling, the sound, everything is amazing.
The only down us that it gets hot on the ears after a while of using them, but that’s to expect from all on ear headphones!

Very confortable, awsome sound quality and noise cancellation, BUT, HORRIBLE FOR PHONE CONVERSATIONS, you litterally sound like you're sitting inside a distant tin can... I don't know what they were thinking, but anyways, if you're buying this as a headset you can make phone calls with or to work from home, be ready for the not so flattering comments of the person at the other end of the line

I spent almost 2 weeks researching and comparing various headphones, starting with a $100 budget waiting for Black Friday deals.
Being a Sony fan I narrowed it down to xb900n, hear on 3’s, xm3 and xm4.
Though way over initial budget I decided to go with these and have no regrets and very happy with this purchase.

Having used Bose QC for some time, very happy with Bose although some inconvenience relating to hot ears. Would have bought the new Bose 700, but Covid prevented even placing on head. Not so with the Sony display, and Sony rep in store also touted the advantages, including comfort with extended wear.
As to noise cancelling...at lowest level it surpasses Bose set I have by a wide margin, although increasing to max I hear no difference, but no outside noise anyway. Hours of wear and no similar heat discomfort. Very hi tech features as well. Could not be more pleased with the result.

Great noise cancelling and sound but expected more

Yes the sound is great and the Active Noise Cancelling is impressive. But to pay over $400 for this seems a bit too much.
Connectivity issues are multiple, particularly for bluetooth on PC using Windows 10. The mic is absolutely terrible. I suggest you go hear the test sounds on Youtube to get an idea. And the headphones only activate the mic if it is a mobile plan call, other calls are not recognized. So you can forget Discord, Zoom, WhatsApp, Teams, Facetime and others, you won't have the mic for this and the sound will not adapt for the call.
So I get if you look after isolation only, yes, you can delight yourself in the sound and forget about background noise. But nothing more, cannot really be used to work if you have meetings involved, cannot be used to game, cannot be kept on for calls through apps. For the price, I think it's a shame.
