The fine folks at Bose sure got it right when they named their latest earbuds product the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Earbuds. Merriam-Webster says the term “ultra” means beyond what is ordinary, proper, moderate; something that is excessive or extreme. These earbuds provide extremely good sound, beyond expectations noise cancelling, and awesome listener personalization options.
As a longtime music lover and (serious) hobbyist musician, I am a stickler about sound and, therefore, a very serious listener. After using the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Earbuds for a couple of weeks in different settings and across several genres, all that I can honestly say is whoa! OMG! These things are truly incredible.
The clarity and musical separation are extraordinary. The listener hears what the sound engineer heard in the studio, theater, or concert venue. Lyrics are crystal clear. And… When you kick in Bose’s jaw dropping “Immersive Audio” feature, it’s drop the mic time. Words can’t describe the enhanced sound. It must be experienced. I love it.
One word of caution: the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Earbuds may be addictive. Once you insert them and listen to a few of your favorite tunes, it will be very hard to stop and take ‘em off. The buds are next level all around.
I’ve had my new Bose Ultra Quiet Comfort ear buds for a week now and I absolutely love them! I wear them all the time and for long periods (4-6 hours) which was never happening with my old ear buds. It’s the Comfort tips and collars that make them so comfortable. I sized each ear bud to fit my ears which provides the ultimate experience of noise cancellation. It’s so good that my husband needs to touch my arm to get my attention! 😊.
I listen to an eclectic mix of music (80’s, POP, classical, country and oldies) and I adjust the EQ to get the best surround sound possible. Then switch between the Immersive sound settings (still and moving) to get the ultimate concert in my ears. Plus, they are extremely stable.
The only con I’ve experienced was when I connect the ear buds in the Bose app on my iPhone. The app will be super slow to connect. When that happens I close the app and open it again and it immediately connects.
Overall, I think the Bose Ultra Comfort Ear Buds are a fantastic product. Guess what my family is getting for Christmas!
I love these earbuds so much that I won't ever be able to listen to music without them.
I initially didn't know what to expect from the new spacial audio technology, but I am blown away. It makes music feel so much more real; it's as if the artist is performing right in front of me. I am also amazed by the noise cancelling technology which makes it so much easier to study in hectic environments. I have sensitive ears and sometimes I just put them on to minimize the sounds around me, especially on loud subways. These earbuds are the best of the best and I won't ever be able to buy from a different brand.
Did you ever experience something that blew your mind, but it was hard to describe to others? Or did your description sound so pedestrian that it was difficult to get others to realize the joy within? Such then, is the happy conundrum of Bose’s latest iteration: their QC Ultra earbuds. Let me preface this review by noting that I am a Bose aficionado, owning no less than two pairs (each) of QC earbuds AND on-ear QC headphones, along with Bose speakers: a SoundLink Flex and SoundLink Color. My music is an integral part of my life – there is always something to listen to every day - and I believe that quality earbuds are a necessity, not a luxury. My favorite genres are ambient/downtempo/chill (see SomaFM.com – Groove Salad), blues, and 70’s-80’s throwbacks. Ok: let’s get down to the good stuff! After I set up my QC Ultra buds, my phone did me a solid by randomly choosing one of the best songs to showcase the Ultra’s promise of joy. The first thought that came to me after I started listening was “OMG! The bass sounds spectacular!” I quickly chose the playlist that had my favorite songs in the mix and let it fly. I fell in love with the music all over again as the Ultra disclosed never-before-heard nuances in each melody. The best was still to come, however. Along with Bose’s stellar active noise cancelling function, these earbuds offer a new Immersive Audio (IA) mode, which enrobes the listener in three-dimensional sound. The music sounds robust and refined, full of detail and layers. Even if you are on the go, the earbuds offer a “Motion” feature; the IA will keep the music in front of you - even when you turn your head - for the best possible listening experience. The easiest (and most pedestrian, see above) way to describe this is that the IA option lets the sound “follow” you as you move or turn your head. You can subtly discern the sound moving towards its sweet spot in front of you, centering itself spatially. Immersive Audio will add a new and amazing dimension to what you hear while streaming movies or the like. The noise cancellation is exemplary, and the “aware” setting let just enough of the outside world in without it being intrusive. These earbuds are lightweight and comfortable. In the box is a charging cable plus different sizes of ear tips and stability bands. The Bose app lets you run an earbud Seal Test to ensure your buds have the perfect fit for you. You can also customize “shortcuts” for each bud (switching between modes, changing Immersive Audio settings, etc.). The buds look sleek and classy, thanks to the new metallic design. I also loved the case – it’s thinner and easier for me to handle. One issue I did have was the sensitivity of the outside of the bud. I was lying down and as the bud touched my arm, the music stopped. It happened a few times and I had to adjust my arm so it wouldn’t keep happening. Another caveat is the fact that Immersive Audio mode is a big battery drain. With it turned off, you can expect 6 hours of use, but with it on, you only get 4 hours before you need a charge. I’ll have to keep another pair of earbuds with me to use as the Ultra charges. When I took my Ultra on the road with me to the nearby Starbucks, I noticed that in Immersive mode, I could still hear what was going on around me (baristas talking, steam noises, etc.). If I increased the volume, it would help a little, but I would rather not affect my hearing in the long run. Pros: Immersive Audio is fantastic. Quality noise cancelling in Quiet mode. Metallic design looks classy. Cons: Earbuds are very sensitive to touch, you can inadvertently stop your music, etc. by simply brushing against them. Battery life is very short (4 hours) when listening in Immersive Audio. When IA is disabled, battery life increases to 6 hours. I’d like to see if Bose could add a few more hours to the Ultra. Noise cancelling in Immersive Audio could be a little better.
Summary: This latest iteration of Bose earbuds gets an A+. Despite the cons mentioned above, I recommend upgrading to the Ultra. You won’t be sorry.
Received NEW product and WOW, glad I upgraded from older Bose in ear headphones. Noise cancelling is incredible, like you’re in your own musical world!
I got these about 2 weeks ago and there are some great things here. Pros Connecting to my iPhone 13 Pro Max was simple and straight forward. The sound quality is exactly what one would expect from Bose. True rich sound on the highs and lows. With the new immersion feature these earbuds are even a step above previous ones. Cons The only bad for me was when talking to others, they had a hard time hearing me and even stated it sounded like I was in a tunnel.

"I recently was accepted to get a sneak peak of a pair of these new headphones and they have exceeded all my expectations. The sound quality is superb, with crisp highs and deep, rich bass. Not only do they deliver an immersive audio experience, but they are also are incredibly comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. It comes with a lot of different size ear buds to allow a plush and snug fit, ensuring a secure and enjoyable listening experience.
One feature that I particularly love is the active noise cancellation. It effectively blocks out external noises, allowing me to fully immerse myself in my favorite music or podcasts without any distractions. Additionally, the battery life is impressive, lasting for hours on end before needing to be recharged.
The build quality of these headphones is top-notch as well. They feel sturdy and durable, and I appreciate the attention to detail in their design. The sleek and modern aesthetics are an added bonus, making them not only functional but also stylish.

Let me start by saying that I’m truly impressed with the Bose QuietComfort Ultra earbuds. Bose have been my favorite buds for many years now. I’ve owned very nearly every version dating way back to the corded earbuds and right through all of the QuietComfort versions. My reasons for coming back to Bose are pretty consistent. For starters, Bose sound can’t be beat. And the QuietComfort Ultra are the most immersive sound quality yet. The sound is as close to sitting in the midst of a live performance as I’ve ever been.
What’s more is the Immersive Audio experience with the Ultra buds. The Bose Music app allows me to adjust settings based on whether I want my sound to remain stationary- or if I want to experience motion- as if my movements alter the way I hear the sound. It would be as if there is a performer in front of me & I can choose whether to hear the sound where the music and I are in a fixed position, or the performer remains fixed, but it’s as if I am moving around. The sound changes as I move and hear from different directions. It’s really pretty amazing.
Just as I’ve come to rely on from Bose, these buds are the most comfortable yet. The design is pretty much the same as the QuietComfort 2, which are lighter than previous versions. I can wear these for hours and they stay put and don’t hurt. Even the original QuietComfort caused me a little pain after extended wear, but not these. I’ve worn them for more than 4 hours without any discomfort at all.
The noise cancelling is excellent. I see with a very loud & heavy duty machine. I used to have to pause audiobooks or not take phone calls while I’m sewing, but with this noise cancelling, I can hear everything clearly, and so can others on a call with me. Furthermore, I deal with misophonia- certain noises are simply unbearable- this takes care of blocking it all out. When I can’t tolerate the tv or others’ chewing or the neighbors music, my Bose QuierComfort Ultra make it all go away. It’s amazing- truly saves my sanity.
My only complaint is the design of the case. This is minuscule compared with the superb function and sound, but in all fairness, it should be mentioned. My little fingers have a little trouble gripping the buds to remove from the case. The lid is sort of in the way, and the buds sit somewhat deep in the case with not quite enough to grab onto. I also worry that the lid doesn’t snap or lock, but this is easily managed with a good leather case that snaps shut.
I most highly recommend the Bose QuietComfort Ultra earbuds. I found them to have elevated the sound quality from hearing to experiencing the sound. Having tried many alternatives, I always come back to my Bose because they really are simply the very best.
