8250-5

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had a Dremel (wired) for years and I always thought that wireless tools just weren't powerful enough . . .I was wrong. This is about as powerful as my corded Dremel, and it allows for more flexibility on where and how it can be used due to be cordless. My corded Dremel has it's purpose, but this newer 8250-5 also has a spot on my tool bench.

Lots of power, to heavy for detail work.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the speed and power of the tool, charges fast right out of the box. Easy removal of the battery from the tool is a plus. However I feel the tool is to heavy for finer dealing work on the wood crafts. With the weight I feel it works better on larger projects and cutting.

Wonderful cordless tool

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great Dremel product. I have other Dremel tools, but having one that is cordless is a big plus. I used this tool to work on the transitions between 2 rooms in my house. The floors are different in each room, so I used the Dremel to grind down the edges of the tile to transition to laminate wood. It worked great. Also since I didn't have a plug nearby, it was really a great thing to use. Thank you Dremel for making such useful and practical tools.

Best cordless rotary tool yet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is by far the best cordless rotary tool I have ever used. It has plenty of power, and a great battery life. The variable speed control is very effective, quite a range from the lowest speed to the highest speed. It comes with a small accessory kit and case. Contains a wrench, arbor and 4 cutting wheels. This takes the standard dremel bits so it will work with any you already own. It comes with one 12v 3.0Ah Lithium Ion battery and charger. I dont know if its just me, but I love how this thing sounds when its running. It feels very solid and it has a good amount of weight to it. It does feel a little large in my hands, but only a little.
Pros: Nice Sturdy and solid tool Comes with charger, battery and accessories Lots of control in speed selection with variable speed wheel Long battery life Nicely packaged Nice soft sided storage case
Cons These re very minor Its a little large in the hand (but still feels good) Only comes with 1 battery

Perfect companion to my laser cutter
on April 29, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently bought a laser printer, and while I loved the concept, I was not 100% satisfied with the results I was getting. I quickly learned that the Dremel 8250 is a nearly perfect companion tool for the laser, allowing me to quickly and easily fix the issues I was dealing with. One of the biggest problems was removing the laser char, no matter what substrate I was working with. The 8250 does an excellent job of cleaning up laser char on wood and MDF cuts, using a bristle brush. A lot of people use alcohol, nail polish remover, and various other harsh chemicals to remove char, but the Dremel is much quicker and does a better job with no worries of damaging the wood/MDF. Using transfer tape on the substrate does minimize char, but the price of transfer tape is insanely high, and rules out that option for me. Another issue with laser cutting is sharp edges; I use the 8250 and a fine grit sanding disk to give the edges a quick "once over" and soften the edges quickly and easily. It does require a light touch because you are only taking off the edge. I tried mounting the 8250 too my work bench, but I found it easier to control with the tool in my hand. Sharp edges are even worse with laser cut acrylic; a 240 grit sanding disk or band followed up with a felt polishing wheel gives perfectly smooth, polished, professional looking edges. I also use the 8250 with a variety of accessories when working with leather. The laser is inconsistent when etching and engraving leather, so I use the 8250 to even things out and create better depth and texture in the leather. With so many carving/engraving accessories available to use on leather, I am just beginning to see the potential, but it has been a game changer for me with leather working! The time I save using the Dremel 8250 is incredible. It definitely has a learning curve with leather working, but the end results are well worth the time invested to figure out what speed and accessory works best for a particular project. I no longer sand or slick my leather edges by hand; the Dremel does a better job in a fraction of the time.
The only reason I did not give this a 5-star rating is because I feel Dremel should include more accessories to really explore versatility of this rotary tool. I have been using Dremel tools for many years, and I'm familiar with the accessory line up, but I would like to see a bigger variety included with the tool. This 8250 came with 4 cutting wheels, and I don't use cutting wheels very often. I love that the 8250 is cordless, but ideally, the cordless models would include 2 batteries, so you always have one fully charged.
I have this 8250 designated as a companion tool to my laser cutter, and I love the results I achieve! I highly recommend this tool for anyone working with a laser cutter; it is the difference between homemade and professionally made!

Hands down, the best rotary tool available.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the second rotary tool powered by battery that I have come across, and the first one, a Ryobi 18v was nothing but a disappointment. When I received the Dremel 8250 I was rather skeptical as to how it would work out when compared to my corded Dremel 400. I was really surprised at how light the tool is and it really falls into the hand quite easily. I utilized this tool as well as another Dremel that I will review separately. I have an old MG that I have been working on for a few years now, and one of the small projects on the car was to repair the rear tail light lens assembly. The lenses are retained by a screw at the bottom, and a pot metal tab at the top that slides into the chrome retaining ring. Being this is really not a very good design, they break quite easily. I thought this would be a good project for the new Dremel tool. Since I was in the process of converting the lights to LED units, I needed to remove the original lamp holding fixture. As you can see in the photos, I used a small carbide bit, and the 8250 chewed right through the tough steel. This did not slow the tool down at all. I used one of the sanding wheels to clean up some of the corrosion. Again the 8250 did this without heating up at all. To repair the top tab, I used a piece of aluminum, and cut it out with the Dremel. The grinding and cutting wheels did their job quite nicely forming the aluminum to the required shape. I know this is a lot of words to write, but I needed to show the amount of work that the 8250 with its 3ah battery did all of these things on a single charge. The tool did not heat up much, unlike my corded unit which would get too hot to handle. The included small tools are pretty much the standard stuff you get with any Dremel product, and does include an EZ change mandrel for the included cutting/grinding wheels. The charger is pretty good, and charges the battery fairly quickly. If I had one thing that I would change with this tool is a second battery. I think an additional battery would make this a great tool to take while combing junkyards for old rusty British cars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This rotary tool is one of the best I have ever used. I was a little apprehensive at first with it being wireless, I just knew it wasn't going to have the power that my corded version did. I am pleased to say I was absolutely wrong. This rotary tool is very powerful and works just as well if not better than my wired version. I say may be better because it is more versatile than my corded version. I am able to move about my work space freely and not tethered down to a location near a plug. It charges quickly and the carrying bag is an added bonus. I can't wait to continue using this in my projects. Can't recommend this enough!
