No padding on the bottom

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this bag with my computer and recently I fell with my computer in the bag. There is now a nice crack in my screen from where the corner of the computer hit the ground because there really isn't any padding on the bottom. Plenty of padding where it sits on your back but no protection from the ground. I'm really careful about putting the back down but when I fell I couldn't really control it. Padding on the bottom side would have made a huge difference.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Look, this is an inexpensive backpack, and it shows. The materials aren't strictly speaking bad, but the backpack has a certain...loose-ness(?) that I feel like I associate with cheaper quality. I would worry about how much weight you put in this bag. It should be able to hold a laptop and maybe a full 3-inch binder, but if you push the volume capacity or weight too much, I doubt it would last more than a year.
Now, outside of build quality, I'm not a super big fan of the pocket layout. The laptop pouch is really large, like it could hold a pair of thick laptops in it no trouble, but I want my laptop to be fit in its home a little tighter than that.
The pockets on the opposite side are obnoxiously strange dimensions. The center one I think is supposed to be the 'pen' pocket, but it can hold 2-3 depending on the size, but it, along with the other two pockets are obnoxiously deep, especially for me with my larger hands. Things I want to put in them become relatively inaccessible because they end up in the bottom of a pit, so to say.
The front zippered section is okay. I put my charger in the pocket in there, and I can slide a small chapter book in there pretty comfortably. Ideally the entrance to this pocket would be even another half-inch larger so I could easily fit a standard sheet of paper (or even a folder) inside with ease.
As a student, I find the lack of a water bottle pouch to be a real frustration, and I'm just carrying it in my hand until I get around to fabricating a way to stow the bottle without risking it leaking onto all of my papers, electronics, etc.
In the end, this bag is extremally cheap, and I wasn't asking for much from it, but there are a few things that I think could be changed to make it far more useful as a backpack that wouldn't increase the cost substantially.
