I will never buy another singer their machines suck they break very easily. Bought obe sewed one stitch and the bobbon thong broje code c4 took it back and got another one and the tension went out on it after sewing one row. Took it back and spent the extra money and got a Husqvarna viking best machine EVER
Pros: Can Withstand Use, Sucks
Cons: Difficult To Use, Not Durable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Value except.......

I love this machine - can use it blindfolded. Before I purchased it, I saw the review about the oil leaking. I checked before using and mopped up a bit. But as I used the machine longer, more and more oil leaked out - all over white linen! I was able to soak it out however I am now on my 3rd garment, still leaks oils even with me wiping the shank down frequently. Such a hassle for a great little machine.

I would NOT buy this machine again

I am a quilter and this machine does not do well with corners, and bidding. There is a bad knock in it and the repairman can not fine out what is knocking. And singer would not do anything . So no I will not buy it again. Everything is made out of plastic.

Pete, we are sorry that you are having issues with your 7285Q. When doing corners you may find it helpful to engage the needle down feature so the machine will stop with the needle in the fabric. This would make it easier to pivot. We have a warranty center in Florence. Is this where you took the machine for service? The covers for the machine are made of material similar to that used in safety helmets. The machine frame is cast aluminum. Several of our vendors show a photo of this machine with covers removed.

I've had this machine for 2 years now and I am very happy with my purchase. I am a confident beginner and use my machine for quilting. I've pieced many quilts on it so far without problem. I have also learned to applique and this machine does well going through all 3 layers of applique. I have machine quilted a few of my projects to completion and this machine keeps up with that nicely. The throat space is somewhat small to machine quilt a large sized quilt on this machine and I've had a few difficulties with the walking foot that comes with the machine but I will still give it 5 stars. I plan on keeping and using this machine for many years to come. It is a great buy and I've never wished for additional features.

Like the machine, need a manual

I just got the machine, but need a manual to get started. Going green is great, but can get in the way of a good experience when it comes to learning a new machine. Instructions included helps with this.

Barely a year

I bought this in March my new hobby then as time went on the bobbin would clog up ,then the stitch would just loop after about 10 stitches I don’t have the nerves for this machine I’m going to upgrade to a better machine not a singer !! It’s at the shop now.
