Wonderful

I bought this backpack in Royal Blue a year ago. I seemed a bit pricey for me, but as I am a backpack person and use them on a daily basis, I decided to give it a try anyway. It was easily one of the best purchases I ever made. I used it daily for school (walking a lot, commuting and carrying heavy books), shopping, hiking and travel, yet it still looks just as it did when I first got it, even though most of my cheaper backpack usually gave up on me after 6 months or so. It is also a lot more comfortable than I thought it was going to be. Worth every cent, would buy it again with no hesitation.

The Perfect Diaper Bag

This is seriously the best diaper/kid bag I've used as a parent. My wife and I switched from our old Eddie Bauer bag because it was just too big. But the Kanken is perfect. It holds our foldable changing pad, several diapers, a full pack of wipes, change of clothes, socks, snacks, everything you could imagine. Another huge plus side to the bag is that we are able to fit our laptop in there as well. Not to forget that it is easy to clean with warm water and dish soap, light, and very durable, this really is the best diaper bag ever.

Don’t get the mint green! I was super excited to get this bag, my partner surprised me with matching ones. Shortly after purchasing it I took it on a trip to Mexico. I regret taking it with me, because it quickly looked very dirty and soiled just with everyday wear. I believe I may have brushed by a door with it on my back (the door didn’t appear dirty) I tried to “clean it” the recommended way (mild detergent and a moist sponge with water) and the stains never came out and I realized it would remove all the dye if I tried to clean it more. I’m not going to lie, now when I look at the bag I get very sad, there are large stains on the front that make it look super dingy it was an expensive purchase my partner made and I think it looks very bad now and I don’t want to use it. I may stop in the store if possible (hard because there are few close) and see if they can do anything? :( I recommend buying a dark color if you like to explore new places!

Ruined my favorite shirt

I wish I could love this bag as much as a lot of folks do but I do not. I was so happy upon receiving my dark navy blue backpack with rainbow stripe straps, but after wearing a white shirt the blue coloring rubbed all over my back and ruined my white shirt

Great bag with history

I've had my share of Kånken backpack, both classic and laptop. I want to share my own personal experience after three years, going on four years of use with this product. First, the material. The material is great, it's unlike most other backpacks on the market today where they put a plastic coating in the interior that will flake after so many years. Thus why they have that plastic smell when they're new unlike the Kånken. It's been through Vegas heat, Northern Utah rain and heavy Idaho snow among other conditions and it has taken the challenge through and through. Having said that, these bags aren't going to protect your things if it fell in a river or something but the water resistance it provides is quite impressive. When you first buy one, please do not throw away the foam insert. This is a seat pad and it actually keeps the bag shaped more sturdy to me not to mention it provides more comfort to my back. I use my bags primarily for everyday carry. A place to keep my basic things I would carry in my pocket, wallet, phone, keys. Having said that, I have seen it work well as a bag for university. I will suggest buying the strap pads, they do provide a level of comfort if you do decide to carry quite a bit. As for washing, it's very basic and the material tends to dry quickly in the correct conditions. For the price, it does seem more expensive but it's worth the investment. The attention to detail from the materials, stitching, and hardware is top tier. You really are getting your money's worth. If your still unsure, I will suggest doing what I did the first time and buy one second hand, but beware of counterfeits. If you like it after so many months, buy one new!

Classic and Fantastic

I was looking for a pack to hold some essentials while on a weekend trip. I browsed through the vast selection of color choices and chose one that made me smile. Believe the hype! It folds flat for easy travel inside luggage, it carried my friend's jacket, souvenirs, water bottle and my own personal belongings inside. The pack is also water resistant, when a beverage accidentally spilled on it, the items inside did not get wet. It also has a pad on the inside that came in handy when I didn't want to sit directly on a park bench.

Disappointing quality

Bought last year for my son’s PreK class. The inside liner is completed shredded and falling apart. I have two other back packs that I purchased for my daughters 3 years ago and they are still in good shape. I think the quality has gone down.
