Hello GCEC.
Thank you for reaching out to us.
The oil reservoir has a sponge inside as a filter. Make sure to only use bar and chain oil. Check the cap to make sure the hole inside the cap is clear (if applicable). Try loosening the cap to loosen pressure and turn the oil cap clockwise and press the tab down to close. Run the unit 1-2 minutes before each use. The whole oil tank will last for approximately 20- 40 minutes.
Please use only bar and chain oil. Do not use dirty, used or contaminated oil. Damage can occur to the bar or chain.
We have shared our chainsaw and operation guide. Videos included are not a substitute for reading the operator manual. For more detailed instructions and safety warnings consult the operator manual provided.

I can use my existing batteries

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just got this delivered to my home today. I opened it up. The packaging was just fine. I read the book and then put chain oil in it. I popped in one of my batteries from my existing Greenworks lawn batteries. I checked the tightness of the blades and went out to cut a bit. I have two large felled 17 inch in diameter tree limbs. 14 inch chainsaws were not really doing a good job. This did a few good cuts. The battery may have went down pretty quick but it was much lighter, quieter, and less of a mess. I like the fact that I don't have to buy gas. I will take my time and switch batteries out and I'll get the job done.

Missing Cap

The only reason I am giving this equipment a 9 is because the pole trimmer was missing the cap for the bar oil reservoir.

Chainsaw outlasts my energy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My third 60v chainsaw came this week.I have two 18 inch now and one twenty inch saw. This afternoon I cut down and bucked 6 Box Elder trees, average 8 inch diameter, with just the new saw, that is until I pinched the chain on the last stump and had to bring out one of my other saws to complete the job. The 5 amp hour battery was amazing, lasting through 80 percent of the work. I get worn out before I run out of batteries.
One thing I like that is different from gas chainsaws, besides the quiet, is with gas, I always felt like I didn't want to stop the saw before it ran out of gas, because I would never know if I could start it again. Probably just me, but keeping it tuned was always challenging. But with battery, you can cut awhile, then clean up some of the mess and rest, then go again, because you know it will start. I feel that makes me safer in that I'm not walking around in all the slash and tripping with a running saw. Got rid of all my gas saws last year, and haven't regretted it a bit. I burn about 3 cords oak per winter, and cut probably double that just cleaning up my woods.

Cheaply made plastic toys for children
on May 23, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Do not buy a greenwoorks tool for anything. They are always on sale for a reason. Cheaply made and engineered. Both times I tried to save money on their worthless junk and ended up buying something else to replace greenwoorks. Just don't do it. Or you will be sorry.

Wanted to like it but…

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wanted to give 5 stars but couldn’t because the chain has fallen off the bar 3 times in 3 uses. Not just that but when the chain comes off, it ends up getting nicked up by the metal guide underneath the tool resulting in a chain that won’t glide on bar. I’ve had to repair 2 brand new chains. So now when I go to use the tool, I am always worried that the chain will come off and I cannot finish the job. Not good. Btw, tool has bar oil and tensioned to recommendation.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
Response from greenworkstools.comBy GreenworksMay 27, 2024
Hello ppaqit,
Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We are sorry to hear about your experience.
Chainsaw chains can come off due to multiple reasons such as worn-down bars, worn-down sprockets, and wrongly set chain tension. Please check the chain tension and condition of all parts prior to using. If anything is worn or damaged, replace parts before using again. Replace the bar if: the groove is not fit with the height of the drive links (which must never touch the bottom). The inside of the guide bar is worn and make the chain lean to one side. If you're still experiencing issues, please contact Greenworks. For the fastest support, reach out to us by Chat - our friendly Live Virtual Assistant is available Monday – Friday: 9:30am – 5pm E.T. If you need help from a human, they'll direct you to one during the hours of operation Monday to Friday: 9am – 7pm E.T. Our helpline number is 1-888-90-WORKS (1-888-909-6757).
