I've had this saw for about a month. I was happy the first time I used the saw. Cut well and battery lasted a reasonable amount of time. However, the saw appears to not like cold weather or hardwoods. I keep the saw (not battery) in my unheated garage. The next few times I tried to use it the saw the chain just started smoking on the wood. It was cold enough the bar oil wouldn't flow and so the chain wasn't getting any oil, and the chain was freshly sharpened. I had to get out my gas saw and it cut right through the log. I am assuming the saw either doesn't have an oil pump or it is very weak. Pretty disappointed that the saw only seems to work in warm weather.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Gmacc,
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of the challenges you are experiencing. After adding bar and chain oil, the chainsaw needs to run for a few minutes to expel the air in the lines before oil comes through. Simply run the unit for a few minutes. Allow the oil to come out before use. You can also try loosening the oil cap to release any vacuum that may have built up. I purchased this chainsaw hoping it would live up to the "greenworks" name. It certainly did! Good quality, great chainsaw. Fast charging is a definite plus. Cuts great. Based on this chainsaw I plan on purchasing other greenworks tools in the future.
We got this saw in early September. We have been using it around the farm since then . Works good for trimming trees along the fence lines cleaning up down trees around the pastures . Nice to be able to walk the fence until you find a tree that has needs attention and just pull the trigger on the saw and you’re cutting. Quiet. Light weight and pretty easy to handle.
Cuts quickly and easily. The chain is narrower than the ones I have used with gas chainsaws. The battery lasts around half an hour on a charge. I cut down a 20 inch ash with it. It took around 6 charges to completely cut up the tree.
Overall very good. My only concern is the duration of the battery. I thought it would last longer, however I was cutting through some gnarley branches and tree trunks. I like that it starts instantly and no gas needed. Good balance too.
