Not bad but not as good as gas powered

I changed from pull cord gas saws to this one after shoulder surgery. It’s excellent for small jobs. Very low hassle to use. However it lasted only for two cuts of a medium sized oak tree. Battery depleted in 20 minutes. This saw will not be useful for a forester. Okay for suburban yard work.
Pros: Cost-Saver, Easy to Use, Quiet

Problem With Slack Chain
on December 14, 2023

Purchased to cut down smaller trees and to trim branches. Runs and cuts great when the chain is on but I cannot get it to stay on. Have finally given up and will have to purchase another brand. It’s like there is one link too many on the chain and there does not appear to be a master link to shorten it . I had read reviews with the same problem, but figured they just did not know how to tighten it properly. I purchased it anyway since I had other Greenworks tools and wanted to build my outdoor tool collection around my battery chargers. My tension adjustment knob is to the max and I cannot extend the bar out any further for tightening. Guess the other people having this problem were correct.
Pros: Cost-Saver, Easy to Use, Quiet, Environmentally Safe

Hello Robin G,
We are sorry to hear of the experience you had with the chain. Chains should be tensioned before use. Check intermittently throughout each chore to make sure the chain is kept properly tensioned and condition of all parts prior to using. If anything is worn or damaged, replace parts before using again. A correctly tensioned chain should only pull away from the bar enough to fit a dime between the teeth and the bar. Do not tension a chain after you have finished using the tool. Hot metal expands. If the chain needs tensioning when hot, then allow to cool, the contracting metal could potentially damage the chain, the bar and even the unit, wait until the next use (or at least until cooled) before tensioning.

Weak Guide Bar
on December 6, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Brand New. Cut down an 8" pine. Made notch & cut tree down. On starting next cut to make shorter lengths, chain came off and severely damaged chain guard. Could not get chain back on guide bar. Thought it was the chain so replaced it, but new chain would not fit into guide bar, which had become pinched on both sides.

Hello DonF13.

Thank you for sharing your expereince. We are sorry to hear of the issue you are having with the chain. New chains tend to stretch; so be sure to check the chain tension frequently and tension as required. However, be sure to never tension a warm chain before storing as chains shrink when cooling and this can damage the chain, bar and saw. Please review the video below in the hopes the video will provide a better user expereince. Should they not yield results please start a Live chat on www.greenworkstools.com or call 1-855-345-3934. We would like the opportunity to speak with you to see if we can find a solution. All we ask is you have access to the unit at the time of your call so we can help you best.
