Incredible Tool!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Electric power tools have come a long way baby - the Greenworks Pro chainsaw absolutely blew my socks off! We have had so many issues with regular chainsaws always breaking down on us. They are loud, smelly, leaky, and need constant maintenance. I honestly was not sure what to expect from an electric chainsaw. All you need to get going is to charge the battery, put in chain oil, and then go to town on cutting stuff down. And man, this thing is so powerful! It is comparable to a gas powered chainsaw, no question. The blade is super sharp and cut right through several 6” trees like butter. One of the best things was the (lack of) super loud noise. Yes, there is noise when sawing, but it’s significantly quieter than a regular chainsaw and there is no engine sound between cuttings - you aren’t going to drive your neighbors crazy. There is a chain lock safety feature that gives me peace of mind and it’s so simple and convenient to use. The battery lasts quite a while and includes a digital display to tell how much battery you have left. In my book, this is a total replacement for gas powered chainsaw for homeowners. We haven’t gotten to try it on larger trees yet so I can’t speak to how it would work for a professional, but I feel pretty confident it could handle much larger jobs. Make sure to charge the battery in your garage or in another room - the charger is big and powerful and includes a fan. I almost forgot the Amazing 4 YEAR WARRANTY which even includes the battery! I would recommend Greenworks Pro chainsaws to anyone!

On second one. First one had manufacturing fault that prevented oil flowing at all. Replacement under warranty is not a lot better. After about 15 mins use chain came off and got bent teeth in the process. Have many other Greenworks tools that I really like but will not buy another chainsaw from them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Surprised by how well it worked!

Bought the Gen2 60v chainsaw on 1/2/20 after reading reviews and online research for about a month. I finally got tired of my heavy duty gas chainsaw not working when I needed it to from sitting up for most of the year.
1/3/20 I put it to the test with a large 10" oak limb that had fallen in a friend's yard and chopped it up without any issues on a cold and wet day, then went home and trimmed up my crapmyrtles and a holly tree in my flowerbed. I had a total of about 30 minutes of run time and 1 bar left on the battery. Overall I was throughly impressed with it and look forward to using it a bit more here soon down at my deer lease cutting a few new trails.
For the average homeowner who cuts a couple trees a year for firewood or some fallen limbs every year, this chainsaw is the way to go!
I wish I had the 1st gen 60v chainsaw just so I could really compare the difference between them to see the improvements in this newer model.
I would recommend this to a friend!

He’s been talking about wanting a chainsaw for a while so after searching for a while I found this one and figured it would be perfect as he already has a few products from Greenworks. He says the handle is really comfortable to hold, the chainsaw works really effectively and precisely and he loves that it came with the battery and charger! This was definitely the perfect tool to add to his collection and he couldn’t be happier and I’m happy I picked such a great gift for him!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I used this in my backyard to manage some brush and a fig tree it worked great. Absolutely no complaints and did the lighter weight tasks with ease. The battery took about an hour to fully charge out of the box (it has cooling fan in the charger) and held its charge while I tinkered around the yard.
When I took this to our ranch and tried cutting down some fairly sizable mesquite trees I ran into some problems. The battery life didn't last nearly as long as I'd experienced running it in my back yard with lighter more intermittent needs. Additionally the chain got caught and bent a few tangs on the drive links. That pretty much ended my use on the project as we were in the middle of the country with limited tool sets. Poor planning on my part.
If you're going to use this tool for more heavy duty cutting and labor then be prepared to have at lease one back up battery and proper maintenance support for an active job. If you're using this tool to maintain a lawn or do light weight work around your house it's a terrific alternative to a gas powered chain saw.
I would recommend this to a friend!

16" Greenworks Chainsaw

Cut 10" diameter tree branches easily.
Battery life good for approximately one hour on and off use.
Battery charger has a built in fan to keep the unit cool during charging. Good feature cause you know when it is done charging when the fan goes off.
Great to not have to deal with gas engine noise and smell.
Weight; not light but manageable.
5/5 Recommend.

Great 60 Volt Chainsaw. Done with the aggravation

Had for about 2 years, bought 2nd battery. Use one have one charging. I have a bad shoulder and I'm fed up with the aggravation of starting a gas chainsaw. Hate trying to start them on the ground or in a tree. This one is for me!!!!

Beats a gas saw any day

I bought this saw (after owning a Greenworks pole saw) to replace my 16" gas saw.
After charging out of the box I cut down 10 trees of 6-8 inch diameter including a 12" hemlock. I then limbed and cut up all that I had cut down and had plenty of battery charge left. I ran out of energy long before this saw did. This saw has awesome power and long cutting time. This saw is better than my gas saw and I won't waste time with a gas saw again. Well worth every penny paid.
