[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So handy to use. Used it on the ranch and packed it everywhere on the 4wheeler.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Right out of its box I was impressed with how simple it was to operate; add lubricant and put it to work. Adjusting the tension on the chain was never easier. It has a good balanced feel in your hands attesting to its flawless ergonomic design. Very pleased with the performance, too. After years of gas powered chainsaws belching out harmful hydrocarbons, its clean use is like a breath of fresh air and I highly recommend it.

Amazing Chainsaw!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The branches on my tree in my front yard grow so low that pedestrians can’t walk on the sidewalk without hitting their head or bending down. So, every year I pay someone to cut them. This year I decided to do it myself. I had no idea what to expect with a battery powered chainsaw. I have used gas-powered chainsaws in the past for various projects, so I was a little skeptical to try a battery powered one. However, I am so glad I did! This chainsaw has power! I was able to cut all the branches with no problem and all on a single charge. It’s super easy to operate. I just read the instructions and I was ready to go. This chainsaw has as much power as any gas one I have tried. I will never use a gas-powered chainsaw again.

Terrible quality control

Chains come off and damage the rail slots no matter how carefully the saw is used. The first saw I received the chain would not even turn due to the rail guides for the chain being to tight, caused the chain to come off and stuck. It was also missing the oil cap, I used a piece of foil to hold the oil in.
Second replacement Saw, the chain came off the first use. Took hours to get it re-installed, hours I can't get back.

Hello jitney,

Sorry to hear that the unit isn't performing to your expectations. Chains stretch with use. When new, they stretch more. The tension on a new or newish chain should be checked and tightened every 20 minutes of cutting or so, it can get away from you fast. This is normal stretching. We would recommend reviewing the tensioning steps as outlined in your instruction manual. Ensure the quick chain tensioner is tight enough to keep the bar from moving.
If you experience the same concerns we would recommend contacting Greenworks once more. We can troubleshoot the chain tensioner assembly, bar, and chain. Thanks again and we hope you get this worked out.

Saw cuts great, even fairly large hardwoods like oak. Battery life ok for around the house, but you need more to do a big job. Still, I tired out before the battery did. :)

Strong enough to fell even bigger trees. Light enough for prunning branches. The battery will last as long as your mid-40s tired muscles.

Chain tension problems, short battery life, weak motor

I've used chainsaws for many years. Received this yesterday, tried it for the first time today. Cut some small stuff and a couple logs up to 10" diameter. Very soon I encountered a major and strange problem I've never encountered with a chainsaw before. The chain tension kept changing! Weird. I know how to set chain tension, and I set it correctly to start out. Bolts tightened down well after adjusting. After just a few cuts, the chain had tightened itself so much that the saw wouldn't run. Puzzled, I loosened the tension until it was correct again and kept cutting. For the next 15 minutes I used the saw, and the tension kept changing. It would get extremely loose and I'd have to stop and adjust it back to the correct tension again. It would get extremely tight and stop running, and I'd have to adjust it again. There was no reason or rhyme to it. Whether it got tighter or looser after any given time I adjusted it was random, not related to whether I had tightened it the last time or loosened it the last time. Every time I made sure the bolts were well-tightened after adjusting. Very puzzling. I also noticed that the chain oiling system wasn't releasing as much oil onto the chain as my other (gas powered) saws, so I'm not sure that's really working as it should. The chain stayed pretty dry. I also found that when cutting through a thicker log (about 10" diameter) the saw kept stopping suddenly, even though I was letting the weight of the saw do the work, not forcing it at all. It just seemed like the motor couldn't handle the thicker log. Finally, after running the saw for only about 15 minutes, the battery was dead. I expected much longer run time. I am extremely disappointed with this saw and intend to return it. BUT, when I tried calling, I waited on hold for a half hour (even though the recording kept telling me I was first in the queue), and no one ever picked up. How am I going to deal with this if I can't reach customer service? I would have waited to post a negative review (I rarely write negative reviews) until after I spoke with someone from Greenworks, but when no one would answer the phone to help me after a half hour, I am fed up and feel that other potential buyers should be warned.

Bought new. Used first time and after awhile it would stop working. After waiting a few minutes it would work again but only for a few more Minutes and stop again. Overheating?? Either way huge disappointment. Bar chain oil was at good level and battery too.
Pros: Convenient

Hello Clos,

Thank you for taking the time to share you experience. There could be a few reasons this may be happening. We suggesting trying the troubleshooting suggestions below. If these do not resolve the issue, please contact Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934.

1. The machine is in the protection mode to protect the PCB.
Try this: Release the trigger and start the machine again. Do not force the machine to cut.
2. The battery is not charged. Try this: Charge the battery. Refer to the battery and charge manual for correct charging procedures.
3. The chain is not lubricated. Try this: Lubricate the chain to decrease the friction. Do not let the guide bar and the chain operate without sufficient oil. The whole oil tank will last for approximately 20- 40 minutes.
4. Incorrect battery storage temperature. Try this: Cool the battery
pack until it decreases to the ambient temperature.

Hope this helps!
