I have a 16 inch chainsaw with 2 batteries. The saw is 48 volt so it takes 2x24 volt batteries. I also have a 24 volt power washer that takes one 24 volt battery. The life of these batteries is great. They also charge really fast. Happy I purchased this brand.

I bought a mower with two 24V batteries. Together, they only mow half of our average size suburban lawn. They also take forever to charge. The mower is great! But the batteries are very expensive and disappointing.

Hello chriscu117,
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower. It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life but it goes without saying that that the harder the unit works, the quicker the battery drains.
Here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time.
1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings.
2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months.
3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily.
4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging.
5) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed. Self-propelled mowers do use more battery than standard push mowers as more power is being demanded from the battery to run the blades and the wheels. *If applicable.
We hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please contact us directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). We would like the opportunity to speak with you to see if we can find a solution. All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.
I brought a new 24v 2.0 battery replacement for my drill and has never worked correctly. After I gave it a full complete charge, it only runs for one or two seconds and stop working. It immediately works again when I pull the trigger but cuts off each and every time. What is the problem, did I do something wrong or should I get another battery? This makes no sense.
Pros: Convenient

Hello CriticalC,
We are sorry for your experience, the most common issue related to a unit only working for a few seconds is connection or battery charge. If the charge is full, please make sure the battery clicks into place. Intermittent function can occur when the battery has not been correctly seated into the compartment on the tool. Hoping this suggestion will correct the issue you are experiencing, if not please contact us directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS).
I have a few of these batteries since I opted to get the same voltage equipment for my lawn needs. I have had them going on three years and they normally perform well. The past two years, I would use them during the summer months for my leaf blower and string trimmer and would recharge them after use. No issues and they even held the charge after a few months of non-use. This year, not sure if it is age or lack of/non-daily use, I've had to throw out two of them. They both overheated after each use. I left both of them overnight to see if the heat would dissipate. One did but did not recharge, even when I tried different chargers. The other just continued to be warm to the touch and I just didn't feel it would be safe to keep it. I still have two 4.0Ah and two 2.0Ah that are working and am considering purchasing replacement ones for the two that I had to throw away.

Hello Ronald R.
Thank you for taking the time time to voice your concerns! There are many possible scenarios that can affect the lifespan of a battery. The rate of degradation depends on how well the battery is maintained. There are different variables to consider giving an adequate answer. Greenworks takes as much pride in our battery and charger. The 24V platform batteries have been tested over 2000 charges. While we only work with the highest quality products, nothing is always perfect, but not to worry Greenworks lithium-ion batteries are offered with a 3 year (homeowner) limited warranty. Though I've owned the leaf blower for just about a year, it has only been used about 6 times because I was living in a 4th floor condo. My garage was ground level and needed to be blown out from time to time. I was stunned when I tried using it today and the battery died after 2-3 minutes and had been fully charged before starting. To make this worse, I've spent over an HOUR on hold trying to talk with someone about it. Wanted to ask what the battery life should be. Won't order another until someone answers that. Otherwise, I thought the leaf blower this battery goes to was fantastic for small jobs.

Hello Kimberlyrogers,
We are sorry to hear about the experience you have encountered with this battery. The overall battery life is dependent on many factors such as where they have been stored, charged, and handled. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging. It is recommended to store the battery with a full charge, and if it is being stored for a period where no use is expected, to check on the charge every couple of months. If you notice the charge has dropped, we advise charging the battery back up to full before returning it to its safe storage place. Following these steps will ensure you receive the most of the battery life. Please know that our batteries are covered by the manufacturer's warranty as stated in the owner’s manual period from the date of purchase. Should you continue to experience a problem with the battery and charger, please give us a call at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the battery and charger so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

Hello MikeBuch,
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear about the experience you have encountered with this product. Here are a few troubleshooting suggestions to check out. 1) When the battery is inserted, the light should begin flashing green to indicate the battery is charging. If this light is not igniting or is flashing red, this may indicate an issue and we would be interested in hearing more about this. If the light simply goes solid red, try removing the battery and unplugging the charger for about 10 minutes and place them both indoors in a room temperature setting, as this might indicate the battery is at the incorrect temperature to be charged. 2) Ensure that the battery has been fully inserted into the charger. Sometimes this requires a firm push into place to make sure that it has been properly seated. 3) Try resetting the charger. To do this, simply unplug it for approximately 10 minutes and then plug it back in and try reinserting the battery. If the charger has been plugged in for extended periods of time, this can sometimes cause the charger to malfunction. Should you continue to experience a problem with the battery and charger, please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the battery and charger so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.
