A Great Sounding Pair of Ear Buds

Pro: - Seamless connection to iPhone, immediate connection as soon as the ear bud is removed from the case. - AMAZING sound quality, very useful ambient sound mode, effective ANC. - Convenient tap controls on the buds. - Small, compact charging case. - Incredibly light and comfortable. - Great battery life. - Comfortable memory foam tips - multiple size options. - EQ settings on Sony’s app - simple, yet very effective custom EQ settings.
Cons: - Glossy plastic surface can cause the buds to come slightly loose at times - does not include any foam/silicone sleeves to help secure the buds in place. - Sometimes the ear buds won’t connect to the app - can be resolved by putting the buds back in the case, then taking them out (this is a minor inconvenience). - Higher price.
I bought these after research and overall have been disappointed. My reason is primarily that as I grow older my hearing is fading and even with the custom equalizer, the clarity does not macth the former earbuds from Bose or Marshall. The app works well and it offers ease of use which is excellent. The ear buds themselves fit fine and have the usual assortment of in ear pieces to allow a person to adapt to the shape of their ear. I am sure that they are excellent for people with perfect hearing but for those of us that have diminished hearing capacity, I recommend Bose or Marshall for both quality and value for money.
You would be better off buying the previous generation, but really you would be best off not purchasing Sony headphones as they are prone to hardware failure that is outside of user control.
If you use an iPhone, don’t buy these. The app is not intuitive or user friendly. The sound output and battery life are amazing, but the microphones are just horrible. My unit had connectivity issues with the iPhone when walking with the phone in my pocket. This used to happen 10 years ago with BT1.0 or 2.0 devices. Not acceptable for the price.
After a bit of confusion initially trying to get them to pair up with my TV. They have worked great. I also own the XM4 earbuds and the 5s give me a better overall sound
I just got these, I also have AirPods last generation. I bought the Sony for my workout, because the AirPods aren't stable they fall, I just hated the concept. So the Sony are more stable like my old Samsung Buds. So the sound is good, but I tried both at the same time, and the AirPods win, the sound quality is way higher than the Sony. So overall I am disappointed for 350$+TX I was expecting something amazing, and I got something :-/
I have had these since launch and the worst pair of earbuds I have ever owned. I owned Jabra's before this, and they were significantly better. Even the software for Sony sucks. The battery life initially was good but as of today, I get 40 mins use out of them. Save your money and spend it on something that works. These earbuds are defective junk.
Bought these after a horrible experience with bose. These are only marginally better and I have cutouts every day. One ear bud just stops and goes dead and I have to put them in the case for a bit to reconnect. The battery is not dead. Usually it is the right one but lately the left has been doing it a lot as well so it's getting worse. They sound great but don't always work. I wish more reviews focused more on reliability than sound.
