This letter opener was purchased for the office when my other ones were lost. I got tired of opening mail with my finger or using a small all purpose screwdriver. It cuts great but the pointed end is a little thicker than it should so you have to make sure it goes between the flap of the envelope to slit it open. My old ones were about 2x bigger the size and I like that better. However this works and is small enough to place anywhere on a desk. The black color is not the best color for it because it gets lost with the black stands I use for my 2 monitors. I think bright colors or white color would help me out. The price is for this and you get 2 in a pack in case one gets lost.

I received a promo-freebie of one of these from a vendor - and I liked it so I thought I would buy a couple for the office. (At two for $4.50 glad to see there's financing available). But the design of this is flawed. The size and outside perimeter is identical to the freebie but the angle of the blade is different - about two degrees less acute - and thus is not nearly as smooth as the freebie. It jams often :(

Don't Buy! Cheap Tears

Staples use to sell a more rounded blue opener that easily slipped inside any crease or flap. It was sharp. This opener is bulky to big to open smaller envelopes does not begin slice niceley. Feels dull. Tears and rips. Is nothing short of horrible.
