I struggled with setting up Blockbuster, Netflix, and Accuweather because the operating system kept freezing, requiring me to turn off the unit and start over. I believe this will be a good unit after a firmware update-- just waiting for that.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Plays Blu Ray very well

This is my first Blu Ray player and I was looking forward to watching movies from Netflix. Nowhere did it say you had to buy additional accessories. I would have bought a different model that was ready to go if I had known. It was an expensive but necessary accessory. So what are your options?

Pleasantly surprised! First electronics item I ever bought that exceeded my expectations. If you're in the market for

Like it but Allshare needs improvement

I've had this player for a couple of months now and it's played all Blurays and DVDs flawlessly - inc Avatar.
I really like the Allshare feature and was a deciding factor in purchase decision. But it really could do with some devolopement.
1) Better FF/REW Capability on streamed movies
2) Auto or scheduled DB Refresh of PCSM
3) Ability to customize folder icons on players Allstream interface
4) PCSM prompt when update available and/or a check for update within PCSM
5) Image thumbnails to suit content, i.e. CD cover ratio for audio, DVD cover ratio for movies. Really hate the 16:9 thumbnail snapshots for movies.
6) Ability to use online metadata (e.g. themoviedb.org, Wikipedia, thetvdb.com etc.) or a personal metadata file so you can use custom thumbnails, give user freindly names, a description, rating etc.
7) Ability to switch off screen saver when player music or using Apps like Pandora
8) Support AVI container with AVC (h264) video and AAC audio (what the insignia HD flip camcorders record)
9) Turn off the jump to next when complete - its fine for music and photo slide shows but not so good if when a movie finishes its starts another.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best Blu-Ray Experience

Just bought this player to replace the BD-P1200. Coming from a long history of samsung products I am overly impressed with the features of this device for the price paid. I love that I can now stream videos, photos, music straight from computer files. With Windows 7 all I did was plug in player and setup network. My computer automatically recognized device and allowed playback without additional software.
The only negative I have discovered so far is the lack of screen saver settings. Having a Plasma TV the need to adjust screen saver timing would be a great update or feature to allow changes.
I would recommend this to a friend!
