Fine Blu Ray, internet playback needs work

I use this product to play Blu Ray discs, and connect to my home PC video recorder system. For Blu Ray it is decent, video quality is good, but menu skipping is slow and pressing return or stop will often drop all the way back to the main menu for no apparent reason. When using as a player for my PC AV system it is very nice that it automatically found my player and plays most of the content without undue configuration. However the interface lockups are much more common when playing net (even local) content. The skip forward/backward is limited to 10 seconds and pressing the button repeatedly often locks up the unit. Having the ability to press >> or >>|, (or even the down arrow) to skip forward a minute at a time would be a huge win. There is no ability to bookmark where in a particular video you stopped play, so when it locks up, or if you just want to delay watching the rest of a video getting back to where you left off is exceedingly annoying.
The user interface also needs some guidance from a human factors team. For example, its fine to sort a display by date/time, it is quite bizarre to only list files that were authored on a particular date, and then not to sort the files for that date by the time within the date. Telling users that you must "switch devices" in order to go from DVD to remote AV system rather than just having a menu option allows hardware/geek speak into the user interface, etc.
I think all of the issues could be addressed with firmware updates, but I don't know how frequent they are, and what Samsung's feature update policy is/will be.
Pros: Inexpensive
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent product. My mother in law does not work well with the latest technology, but this product and all its software is fairly intuitive.

My old reliable projection TV died so I got a 40" LED LCD TV and then "just had to get" a Blu-Ray unit to go with it. There are a few items that make this a "wow" and only a couple that "go clunk"
All of the network capabilities to download updates, access a DLNA server, stream movies, and "stuff" like that make this a great little device.
The only aspect I did not know about - and I still would have purchased the unit - is how long it takes to get to the main menu of a disc! I have gotten spoiled by my regular DVD player for how quickly we could get to watching the movie. It is not a killer flaw but just a hassle.
The Disney Nature "Oceans" really sold me on Blu-Ray. Since I do not have a 3D TV there is no need for a 3D player.
This unit hits a good price-point for the quality of the picture and overall features.
Pros: Inexpensive
I would recommend this to a friend!

Paired this Blu Ray player with our 50" 720i plasma and things work very well; the picture is great! The only small strike against it is the delay when loading data and between menu screens. Small issue but hardly enough to throw the machine under the bus for it.
great playback and features will update if starts acting up..
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!

We are using this Blu-ray player with a Samsung 55" 630 TV. The two devices work perfectly together -- both can be controlled from either remote unit, and the Blu-ray goes off when the TV is turned off.
The player is very thin and looks elegant on the shelf.
The gee-whiz factor here is that we can watch Netflix streaming movies through the player. Very cool. Works perfectly.
