The Ziploc bags feel like a thinner plastic. I don't think the zip closure is any better or worse but I do like the extra grip texture on the top for reopening them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy fill and storage

While they continue to hold as much as the previous gallon size bags, the nice part is that they stand open alone on their own, rather than requiring assistance of someone to fill the bag. My freezer has a lot more room as I can pack liquids and or solid food easily in these bags and this takes up so much less space than containers. I highly recommend this type of Ziploc storage.

When you fold that bag it actually stayed up. I also filled it up and it stayed up. I am impressed by this product. Will buy this product again.

These Zyploc Freezer Gallon bags make preparing foods for the freezer a breeze. The Grip 'n Seal technology features a textured, gridded band just above the double seal, allowing you to easily manipulate closing the bag -- even with hands that may be wet from working around food or while managing a good amount of food packaged within the gallon-size bag. Even more impressive is the design of the bag's base which has hash markings which allow for the bag to naturally sit and remain open as it's being filled. Once I had begun to fill the bag, the bag sat propped with the mid and upper section of the bag propped for easy access. Highly recommend!

Great design and much needed

The thought of it staying open on its own is innovative and works like a charm. Super easy to use and good directions to keep the bag upright. I will be using these bags when separating meat. I will open bags ahead of time to not make messes with the meat drippings from my hands.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the ziploc freezer gallon backs! They're the perfect size for storing meat, veggies, fruit, and more. I prefer to buy larger trays of chicken and will store the chicken breasts I don't need in these bags. The bag has a strong seal so the chicken doesn't get freezer burn. I also like to use these bags with fruit like bananas that are starting to brown so that I have frozen fruits for smoothies. The bags are strong and stand up when filling which is helpful, so when I add chicken along with a marinade into the ziploc bag, I don't need to worry about pouring single handedly while holding the bag up.
