These new bags are poorly made. The tab above the lock tears immediately when you try to open them. I looked at it closely right out of the box and noticed many of them were torn already so the slightest pull would tear them completely. I thought I had a bad box but over the holidays I noticed this issue occurred at parties and homes. Poor poor product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Why does the big rip every time I open a new one ?!

Ever since I opened the package and started using them, each one rips in the same place with little to no effort. I'm really unhappy and will not be purchasing ever again. It's like as soon as you open the bag it rips on the side seam and you're not even able to use the bag! Terrible.

Love the stay open design

I love the design that helps it stay open. I tested it and it does work. I recently saw someone post recipes to freeze and I love that these will make it easy to do!

I love the redesign in which the bag now has a large, oval base to allow for easy, sturdy filling. They worked great for filling with pasta sauce and freezing. I will be interested to see how these bags do in preventing freezer burn.

Ziploc Branded Bags are Just Different in a Good Way

I've used many different brands of ziplock style bags but no other brand can compare to quality of Ziploc. These bags just seem more durable and you can just feel the amazing quality of Ziploc's patented sealing "zip" every time you open or close it. Truly, no other brand I've ever used comes close to effectively replicating the silky smooth feel of zipping one of these bags shut nor do they ever feel as secure once the seal is actually closed. My only gripe with them are how expensive they are so they're not really worth using in "dispose after utilizing" scenarios but if you want a ziplock bag that lasts which you can rely on to stay sealed, I definitely recommend these.

We use a lot of Ziplock bags, but the new design on the 1 gallon Ziplock bags with the "tab" just doesn't seem to work very well. The tab invariably tears, and then the bag is nearly impossible to open.

I've stopped buying the quart size since they've been redesigned. I can't tell you how many i've wasted trying to open or reopen. They tear at the top instead of opening. Then I have to unlock it using my fingernails or just trash it if it's new. It happens to my father-in-law too.
