[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this to try out from 3M and they have another winner. I tested on 3 different surfaces and the tape peeled off cleanly from all of them 3 days later.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a product sample to test and am so glad I did. I'd been disappointed in the past with the masking tape I'd tried. This works well on metal, glass, tile and carpet. Easy to apply and clean removal too. Highly recommend.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In exchange for an honest evaluation, I was offered a free roll of 3M's Scotch Contractor Grade Masking Tape. Fantastic! It seems as though I'm always using masking tape for various jobs (big and small) and consequently have amassed a variety of types and widths for each and every purpose imaginable. They all have one thing in common... none of them are cheap. In the past, I've tried generic tape, big box house brands, knockoff, etc., but all were disappointing in one or more aspects. The Scotch Contractor Grade tape is an exception - not only is it extremely affordable, it meets or exceeds all of my personal requirements for a quality multi-purpose tape;
a) It peels off of the roll cleanly, without tearing down the edges. This is an extremely basic requirement that so many tapes fail... even expensive brands sometimes. b) It tears cleanly by hand when and where you want, so you don't have to use scissors or cutter. c) It sticks firmly to any clean, dry surface and seals at the edges. d) It comes off cleanly without the need to scrape or pick off fragments. e) It doesn't leave behind a sticky residue on an object after removal. f) You can write upon it with a felt-tip marker and not have it smudge afterwards.
OK, maybe it's just me, but I find masking tape ideal for impromptu labels, particularly woodworking projects with various components that need to be fitted a certain way when assembled. Although the 3M tape seems to have a slick coating, it nonetheless accepts felt-tip ink quite readily and is smudge-proof almost immediately.
The only thing I haven't yet tried is to see how the tape performs when left on a surface long-term. Honestly, based upon years of experience with masking tapes, I don't expect miracles; however it would be utterly fantastic if this tape would remain attached for weeks or even months, yet still remove readily without leaving behind a sticky residue. I will apply a few test strips to some lumber and update this report in a couple of months.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this as a paint tape to design a play table top. It was easy to manuever as I pulled it off the roll. It removd cleanly when I pulled it off and was strong enough to come off in the size of the piece I uused instead of tearing. Loved it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a small painting job to do, but it required much taping off! This tape left sharp edges, and came off clean! Additionally it was easy to start and use; came off the roll the way it should. I received this product in exchange for my honest opinion.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this to tape down drop cloths while I was painting. It kept the cloth attatched to the carpet perfectly. I love this product!
