Power Out Not a Problem Here

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this surge protector for our TV Roku tablets—basically everything my kids use to stay calm. When we lost power during a thunderstorm the battery backup kicked in and Mrs. Rachel stayed on just long enough to avoid a baby meltdown. Total win. The eight outlets were perfect and I loved having the USB ports—we could plug in the kids’ tablets right by the TV without hunting for extra bricks. It kept everything powered and reduced clutter. What I liked most? That it worked when I actually needed it. It saved the day in more ways than one.

Works well for small loads

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall this surge protector power strip seems like a decent budget option for protecting a budget family computer a printer and maybe a wifi router. The surge protector power strip's battery outlets are collectively limited to 360 watts even when the battery is not active. If the power draw goes over 360 watts an alarm sounds for a couple of seconds before cutting the power to all 4 battery supported outlets. This means you cannot have a medium or high-end gaming desktop computer on the battery outlets because it has the possibility of shutting down your computer while in use. The surge protected outlets do not have a wattage limit but the unit as a whole has a 12 Amp current limit. On battery power it handles simple loads pretty well. I connected two 60W LED work lights and a box fan and it powered them for between 1 and 2 hours. It handily charged two non-gaming laptops at a time for just under an hour. It even managed to run a 6 inch wood jointer at half power for a couple minutes (at 360 watts) before I stopped the jointer because the power strip was getting warm and a little smoke came out. After the jointer incident while charging a single laptop with a 65 watt charger the voltage spiked to 150 volts which is concerning but then the unit powered off automatically which is good. The construction of the surge protector power strip is simple and cheap but effective. The included battery is a bit loose inside its housing but for a product that likely will never move that’s fine. There is plenty of venting for passively cooling the electronic components. I think 8 outlets is an adequate number for this unit. The USB ports are also good. I wish that the unit had some kind of remaining capacity indicator on the outside. It does have a USB data port for reading status on a computer but according to the manual that requires a proprietary program.

Compact size for large scale function

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Alright when we first opened this my husband was like "Woah- that's huge". However I would like to pause right there and say that for the amount of functionality this thing has it is a lot smaller and more compact than I was anticipating. Now that we've addressed that—this thing is amazing. Upon receipt after discussing size with my husband I immediately knew where this was going to live—right underneath my computer desk. I live in the midwest Missouri to be specific and no matter how much money we throw at our electric company we lose power repeatedly throughout the summer thunderstorm/tornado season. As a mom of 6 who also works from home and homeschools this throws quite a number of wrenches into my plans. My computer is my livelihood- it's how I access my kids school work and printables but also how I do my job and make a living. Not only do I want it to be protected from any unexpected surges (which happen more than I'd like to consider) but I also can't always handle when the desktop suddenly loses power during a power outage. My laptop is helpful but only to a certain point especially without WiFi. Enter this absolutely amazing product from Staples. Not only does this thing have surge protection (again must have for me!) but it also stores a bit of power to act as a power bank in the case that power is lost. Does it last forever? I imagine not (thankfully haven't had to use that feature yet but as we are expecting tornadoes and thunderstorms this afternoon I might be soon!). However it certainly lasts long enough to button up and save whatever I'm actively working on when power does cut out. Additionally it has a large number of outlets (8) which was sufficient to plug in my router desktop monitor and speaker system. I also have a couple more outlets available should something need to last minute be plugged in (Nintendo switch chargers most likely for all our sanity). The USB option is perfect for plugging in our cell phones too! Overall while this is a bit bulky I truly consider it incredibly compact for all the function and protection it provides. I already plan to get a second one for my upstairs office!

peace of mind gaming

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am in love with this surge protector and power supply. I play a lot of online games and have a lot plugged in in my living room to where the breaker would trip while playing. And if you are in a competitive match online that can kick you out and drop your score. I love that this gives me enough time to flick the breaker back on (when it happens) and gives protection to all my devices that are plugged in. I live in an area where the hail thunderstorms and tornados kick in every spring and being able to have this is a game changer for all the devices and charging up phones and tablets.

An Easy Addition for peace of mind

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an item that does what it should- and that’s all it needs to do! Ultimately we used this product to ensure our security cameras were always up and running. We tested it in our garage for a camera we use to make sure we don’t have water in the garage- so the camera being up and running at all times in a necessity. However this has enough plugs for multiple cameras and our basement/garage TVs as well. There are ample amount of plugs to use which is great and a USB option. We did not have a need for the USB port but it is nice to have in case. This unit is sturdy and well made and does what it’s supposed to do- which gives peace of mind that it would support our devices and be reliable for any thing else we need it for. It’s also not too big that it needs a lot of space- which is nice a work bench or a entertainment console!

Heavy duty for WFH setups

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I work from home full time so having a backup power supply has always been a concern for me in case of power outages due to storms or other events like home remodeling projects. I read the instructions thoroughly and plugged my system in overnight exceeding the recommended 8 hour initial charge. After reading the entire manual I felt the guidance on power specifications and approximations on how long it could/would work in the event of a power outage was very light. Usually you would want to understand how much power your current setup takes and the voltage requirements to guesstimate how long your UPS would last during down times. I wasn’t able to figure it out with this system and while it held all of my monitors dock laptop and other needs I’m hoping I have at least a ten minute window based on the current setup. With that said this system is heavyweight and feels well made. It has 8 outlets but only 4 are battery protected. There are only two USB ports with no indication of battery backup protection and zero USB-C connections. I would have appreciated at least 1-2 USB-C for peripherals but I can plug those into my dock instead. For those that may be wondering if you unplug everything and try to test the battery it will not work it will automatically shut off. It has to be plugged in and grounded for the unit to operate. This unit also advises against plugging in printers shredders and other high power demanding devices (ladies no hair dryers lol). Other than that this system will work fine for my work from home and small business needs and I have a bit more peace of mind about future downtimes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the design of this power strip and the ability to put a lot of devices on it. I like that it has USB ports to maximize it's use. Where I live power outages due to high winds is always a possibility. This surge protector gives the perfect peace of mind to be able to safely keep devices connected as well as keep the power to continue working on my laptop or having my kids charge their gaming devices. Could not recommend this more as it is the perfect protection for those bad weather days!

The beast of surge protectors

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I wanted to try this surge protector power 'strip' (more like box or brick) because we get frequent thunderstorms this time of year in the NE US - so power surges/electricity loss. My brother lost his gaming system at one point from a power surge to his apartment and needless to say he was SUPER upset. The fact that there's battery back up to give you time to properly shut down your electronics on this surge protector is fantastic! While we DIlD lose power since I've used it we weren't using any of our electronics when it happened. The electronics plugged into it were my sons' gaming system and our TV as well as a receiver and they were plugged into the battery back up ports. I really like that there are USB ports and enough plug outlets for everything we need! I also use it to charge my ipad and laptop b/c i know it can handle without overheating. One thing is I wasn't expecting it to be so heavy but it's not really an issue. The weight actually keeps it from falling sideways or tilting si it's a good thing!
