[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’ve been using the Staples Tech Surge Protector Standby UPS as the central charging station for our home and overall we’re very impressed with its performance and reliability. We primarily use it with our alarm system and other essential household devices including our Wi-Fi router and charging ports for phones and tablets. Everything stays consistently powered and online which gives us great peace of mind—especially knowing our alarm system won’t go offline unexpectedly. The number of outlets is perfect for our setup. Eight outlets give us plenty of space for all the key devices we rely on and the USB-A ports are a huge bonus—super convenient for charging phones without needing additional adapters. What we like most about this surge protector is the built-in backup battery UPS functionality. While we haven’t experienced a power outage yet it’s reassuring to know that we have backup power ready to keep our devices running during an emergency or sudden outage. That added layer of protection really sets it apart from a standard surge protector. Overall this has been a reliable well-designed addition to our home and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable power solution that doubles as a backup system.

Such peace of mind as an emergency battery backup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay I love this thing! When I first opened the box I was surprised by how large and heavy it was expecting your average surge protector. However once I rearranged a couple things to make room for this to be hidden under our office desk it was all uphill from there. There are eight outlets and two USBs to keep devices protected on a day-to-day basis with surge protection. But the best feature is that after an initial 8 hour charge the internal battery continues to auto charge as needed so you have a full battery backup to keep the devices running if the power goes out. THIS IS HUGE! We have our router laptop and phone chargers plugged into the four outlets that have battery backup so we can maintain internet service for all devices in an emergency even without power. It also gives us longer access to the computer and two cellphones in a power outage. The peace of mind this gives us for safety alerts and communication in an emergency situation is worth the price alone. I don't know how we went without this tool in our emergency preparedness kit for as long as we did but now I will never go back. Do yourself a favor and give yourself the same peace of mind with this genius piece of tech.

to reduce disruption during outages

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since my neighborhood suffered a devastating fire in 2021 in order to avoid downed power lines contributing to future fires our power company is manually shutting off power during high wind events. It's happened a couple of times each year and it's pretty disruptive as it can take several hours to get the power turned back on. My husband and I are reliant on wifi to work and as the cable lines are not impacted I wanted an offline UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to keep our cable modem and router supplied with electricity for the next outage. The unit has 2 USB A ports 4 regular surge protected outlets and 4 battery powered and surge protected outlets. I really like that it has both types of outlets on one unit so I can be specific about which devices I want to prioritize to receive power during an outage and which ones like an amp I can do without. I haven't gotten to test it during an outage but after giving it a full charge and plugging in everything as my modem needs 5 watts and the router needs about the same this ought to give me an extra 3 hours as this provides 365 minutes at 5 watts. The instructions are specific about not plugging in large appliances (shredders copiers vacuum cleaners laser printers and I have to assume hair dryers) into the battery protected outlets but you can use the regular surge protected outlets so you don't need to have different power strips if you have everything in the same section of your office. You can download the PowerMaster+ software to monitor the UPS with a USB Port to PC I'm not sure if I'll need it but if the power outages become more frequent I'll need to familiarize myself with it!

Sturdy and practical

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My first impression of this surge protector power strip is that it just looks and feels like it means business. It’s got some weight to it and just a solid piece of equipment. It feels well made and sturdy like it was built to last. Plugs fit snug and secure into the outlets which I like because we are remodeling our home office space and I want to mount this to wall once we finish the new drywall. I like the fit a lot actually because I hate when plugs loosen up over time with gravity and I don’t foresee this ever being an issue. This device will primarily be used to for office items like computers monitors and charging cords. It has plenty of outlet and USB options so I don’t think I will have any issue meeting my needs with this. It offers a peace of mind as well as a way continue to do things if there is a power issue. Good stuff!

Provides Peace of Mind

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I work fully remote and while I haven’t experienced a power outage since getting the Staples Tech Surge Protector Standby UPS I already feel a huge sense of relief having it on hand. There’s nothing worse than losing power mid-workday and scrambling to decide whether to wait it out or head to a coffee shop—especially when outages rarely last that long. Now I can stay home and keep working with minimal disruption. The setup was easy and I love how clearly labeled everything is—making it simple to know which outlets are battery-backed vs. surge-only. It’s surprisingly compact and the flat plug design that doesn't cover the bottom outlet is a huge win (why aren’t all heavy-duty plugs like this?!). Between the 4 battery-supported outlets 4 surge-only outlets and 2 USB ports it powers everything I need: my modem monitor laptop and phone charger with room to spare. The indicator light is a nice touch too; It gives me peace of mind that everything’s protected and ready. If you work from home or live somewhere prone to outages I’d highly recommend this. It’s super easy to use practical and gives me one less thing to worry about.

Game Changer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This surge protector is such a game changer. Living in California we have frequent planned power outages due to wild fire dangers. As someone who works from home on a computer this has caused issues in the past. 48 hours after getting this surge protector charged and set up I experienced my first outage. Thanks to this product I was able to continue on with my work day and attend meetings as scheduled with zero interruptions having both my Wi-Fi router and my computer plugged into this surge protector. There are plenty of outlets and USB ports available to keep you up and running when the power is out. Every home should definitely have at least one of these at home! Can't recommend it enough.

Small but mighty workhorse UPS

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My overall impression of this surge protector power strip has been very positive. It's a solid and reliable solution for anyone needing both surge protection and battery backup especially in a home office or small workspace. The build feels sturdy and setup was straightforward just plug it in connect your devices and you're good to go. I primarily used this power strip for my desktop computer monitor wifi router and external hardrive. During a brief power outage the battery backup kicked in instantly giving me enough time to save my work and safely shut everything down which was exactly what I needed. The number of outlets. 8 in total felt just right for my setup. I appreciated the split between battery backup plus surge protection in 4 outlets and surge protection only on the other 4 outlets which let me prioritize what needed backup power. The two USB A ports were a nice bonus for charging my phone and wireless headphones without taking up extra outlet space. While they're not fast charging ports they're very convenient. What I liked most about this surge protector was the peace of mind it gave me during outages and storms. Knowing my essential devices were both protected from power surges and supported during brief outages made a big difference. The long 5 foot power cord also made it easy to position where I needed it. However there are limitations you should be aware of. The battery backed outlets are collectively limited to 360 watts even when the unit is connected to wall power. If you exceed that by plugging in a mid or high end gaming desktop the UPS will sound an alarm for a few seconds then cut the power to the battery supported outlets completely. That could pose an issue if you're in the middle of something important. The non battery surge protected outlets don't have a wattage cap but the entire system has a 12 amp current limit. Overall. for the size it packs a punch and I would recommend this product to anyone who needs reliable surge protection with the added benefit of battery backup especially in a work from home setup.
