Tape has no adhesive on it.
Brand new roll.
Dispenser says "20X stronger" and "heavy duty" .

20X Tape Will Not Stick

I bought a roll of Scotch Shipping Packaging Tape that is useless because it won't stick to anything. This roll is labeled 20X stronger. I then bought another roll labeled 40X stronger, which works fine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Challenge to get Started

I have purchased this tape for sealing boxes many times. It never gets easier to get it started. First, the little cardboard tab must be removed. If one pulls on it the larger part tears off but the smaller part tucked into the red plastic tabs stays put. I have to get a small scissors and nip away carefully to pull with finger tips to get that piece of cardboard out. It would be helpful if one pull removes both parts of the cardboard.
Then to get the tape to start takes a long time. It would be great to have a started strip to pull to get the tape started and put in position.
And is one supposed to be a mind reader/psychic to figure out how the tape should be placed to get proper pull and tear? Apparently so.
I am amazed that this product's ease of starting and use hasn't been complained about and improved.

Just doesn’t stick like it used to.

We recently used several rolls of packaging and shipping tape in a move. The tape just doesn’t stick like it did in the past. Disappointing!

used to be great tape

Background: worked for a company that did a lot of work for 3M and the shipping tape was the only tape to use. Now tape is worthless, doesn't stick to cardboard. Press on box and tape released leaving box open. Have to wrap it around the box like stretch wrap.

Tape keeps shredding

I bought a dispenser of Scotch Packaging Tape, 84.2 Yards. It was fine for about 12 inches. After that, the tape kept shredding, a thin section constantly separated from the tape. It was as bad as the worst brand X packaging tape I ever bought. Never expected Scotch to sell such a sub-standard tape. After I get my holiday packages taped, I will toss the rest of the tape. Way too much time, mess, and effort just to get some tape. (I ship lots of packages for my art business, so I am not a packaging tape novice).

Using Sealing Tape to Benefit Our Literacy Library

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In developing a literacy library for the elementary school where I teach, I purchased leveled books and placed them in cardboard magazine file boxes. I typed out and laminated the level numbers and placed them on the front edge of the file boxes so teachers could easily find the level of book they needed to instruct with. I purchased Scotch Sealing Tape and used that to wrap over and secure the laminated numbers to the file boxes. I only want to go through this process once in the rest of my career so I chose Scotch Sealing Tape to make sure that the levels stay neatly in place and don't have to be replaced in the next year or two. Many have commented how neat everything looks in our literacy library. I also secured many colorful reading posters to the walls in the library to brighten the room. These held very nicely with the same Sealing Tape. Kudos to Scotch Brand Tape!
