Perforation for tear-out needs improving
on June 9, 2014

I'm a little surprised at some of the comments especially the one review that negatively reviewed the pad as having pages that tear out too *easily*. I have had the *opposite* experience. While in most other aspects the paper is passable I do not find that it tears out well at all! I bought this 12-pack and have used well over half of them and have been consistently frustrated with pages tearing out OK part-way across and then hitting a spot where the perforation is either missing or not complete such that the tear goes off-line leaving me with pages with missing corners the vast majority of the time. While I see this perforation failure with most pads especially the cheaper varieties this pad has stood out in my experience for having more of this problem. The paper is also thin. I could not write on the back if I wrote with pen on the front side. Maybe if I wrote lightly with pencil...

Fountain pen friendly--almost
on February 16, 2017

For people who use fountain pen the paper is Great. Inks still bleedthrough a little bit but won't go to the next page. Inks doesn't feather but lines still become little boarder(compare to rhodia). The paper is smooth but not too smooth. Ink I test: R&K salix(Hero 616) Waterman serenity blue(Lany al-star F) Noodler's heart of darkness(preppy F/Pilot 74 M) hunter green(lamy safari F) Private Reserve american blue(Pilot MR F) Diamine Oxblood(Pilot MR F) and Parker black blue-black.(Jinhao x250). I ran out of Noodler's black I think the ink won't bleedthrough at all.

College professor & nurse; I write with fountain pens and am active with those in fountain pen collecting and on the Fountain Pen Network Forum where recommendations brought me to try this paper over much more expensive papers had been using; I was awestruck---Bagasse paper is a better all around paper and buy; have tried many different brands and colors of ink;also brands of fountain pens; all work great on this paper; ballpoint pens and rollerballs as well; we had to really hunt for the paper at our different Staples stores till we found it as some employees weren't aware of it; once found we bought a lot and use it daily; we also like that it is eco-friendly. Thank you Staples for this product.

better then cheap pads...

but paper does have problems tearing off as noted by other reviewers. However it is a BETTER paper overall then the really cheap pads. Takes liquid ink better. But perfect pads for fountain pens are 20 lb paper

Nice alternative to high priced French

imported paper like Clairefontaine or Rodia. While a lighter weight the coating or sizing permits the use of fountain pens without excessive bleed through.

I bought it because it was eco-friendly but would rather kill more trees to have a decent notepad.
