Great Notepad

Very good smooth paper. It is suitable even for fountain pens. There is no feathering and no soaking through - you can use both sides. The quality is comperable to very expensive European paper - at a fraction of the cost. I'm very impressed with it and would highly recomend it.

dimensions not 8.5

I return from seven years abroad using materials under international standard (A4 etc.) that make sense and am still confounded by how stupid our American system is.. I tried to find a perforated writing pad that would have sheets that are ACTUALLY LETTER SIZE (8.5 x 11") after being detached..it seems no such thing exists in our culture. This 'eco-friendly' pad was the only one in the Staples catalog that had 8.5 x 11 in the title (not 8.5 x 11.75)-- upon receipt I confirmed that the sheets are identical in length to those from the more common generic 8.5" x 11.75" inch pads-- that is to say the sheets are actually 8.5" x 10-5/8" in length. Interestingly I checked the overall dimensions of both pads and found that the dimensions of the so-called 8.5x11" pad are actually 8.5x11.75" and the dimensions of the so-called 8.5x11.75" pad are actually 8.5x11-5/8". So it seems it is impossible not only to buy a pad with actual 8.5x11" inch sheets but it is impossible to SEARCH for a pad with 8.5x11" given that the dimensions of the pads themselves are not correct but mere approximations of our so-called standard paper size. This means that unless special care is taken every single time anyone using a two hole side punch for filing will never punch a sheet with handwritten notes from the pad in the same spot as a printed document! Yes it sounds petty but I ask you-- why do we in the US have and why do we put up with such low quality from even the simplest things we use to organize our lives? I have to worry about war overseas already is it REALLY TOO MUCH TO EXPECT THAT A "LETTER SIZE WRITING PAD" ACTUALLY HAVE LETTER SIZED SHEETS!!??? ARRRRGGGHH!

Love the Concept - Not the Cost

The Sustainable Earth brand is a great idea. I love having the option of purchasing a product that is better for the environment. Its good to be able to see it labelled as Sustainable Earth I feel comfortable knowing that it is a better choice without feeling I have to research into it. The pads themselves are a nice clean bright. No brown filaments or imperfections it looks just like regular paper. The lines are a light brown/tan color which I prefer over the more standard blue and red. When writing the color of the pencil or pen is no longer competing to stand out against the lines in the pad. I did receive a sample pack with Sustainable Earth products - it had a few items and introduced me to the brand. I'd love to see more products in the future! I'd especially love to see more affordable copy paper in the Sustainable Earth brand.

Can't tear out clean

Paper feels great. Nice weight. Excellent for use with fountain pens. BUT -- it is impossible to tear out a sheet that is straight across. Had the same issue in every pad. The corners rip the middle rips and it makes no difference how careful I am trying to tear it out. Drives me crazy.
