I took one look at number of tools and steps to assemble and hired a handyman to put together . That was a little disappointing . He did a fine job but that increased cost considerably

The bookcase is deeper than a traditional case. It is serving the purpose for holding all the home school supplies. Very sturdy construction. Expecting it to hold out for a long time. One down side the laminate around the peg holes for adjustable shelves cracked and came off easy when installing pegs.
