Feels like ballpoint

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a notary I was looking forward to trying a new fine tip gel pen. However these staples ones disappointed. The reason I get gel is because they basically do the work for me where the ink simply glides and it relieves the pressure off of my wrists. These pens I have to press hard and feels dry like a ballpoint. The pen itself is sturdy and comfortable to hold.

Smooth writing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very happy with my new Staples ProGel Retractable Gel Pens Extra Fine Point 0.5mm Blue Ink. They write very smooth and I love the extra fine point of the pen. They do not leave any wet ink which is nice. They also have a great grip. However I have had a problem with the ink not flowing out of the pen. It seems like it dries up very fast or is not flowing correctly. If this problem is fixed I’d give them 5 stars.

Extra fine pens

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The grip on these pens is very comfortable especially when writing for a long time. The problem I found with these pens is that the tip is so fine that the ink doesn’t flow out evenly. So often times I would have to re write over bc the pen would dry out. I tried various of the pens from the box and the same issue was the same. This does not usually happen with gel pens so I was a little disappointed.

New pens Weak ink

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried 3 pens in the pack of 12 and each was as if they were dried out. Within 3 or 4 sentences the ink grew lighter. So frustrating!

Scratchy and light ink

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the weight and grip of these pens as well as the color however the positives end there. The tip of the pen is scratchy as in the ink does not flow well and I feel like I am dragging a dried up pen across the paper. Similarly because the ink doesn't come out smoothly my writing ends up pretty light almost as if the pen is running out of ink even though it's brand new. I definitely would not opt to use these pens again.

Quality and consistency not great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love gel pens and specifically the 0.5 mm size. I use them all the time for work so I was excited to use these. Unfortunately the quality fell short. I had to throw away a few as the ink was not coming out or would come out light and choppy. For the ones where the ink did come out it was still very light esp in comparison to similar black gel 0.5mm I use on a daily basis. If they fix the quality would definitely consider using again.

Nice color but very thin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the opportunity to use and review the Staples Pro Gel Retractable 0.5 Pen in blue. My use of it started off great - it had a good amount of ink and easily glided over the page. As I continued to write the ink became a little light and difficult to write with. Overall it was a decent pen but I prefer at least a 0.7 tip.

Staples ProGel Pen is smooth

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not sure if I've used gel pens before and was curious to see how they would do. I was especially interested because I recently heard a fraud expert explain that using gel pens makes it harder for criminals to "wash" documents -- things like checks! -- and rewrite or cash them. Who knew a pen could be a safety measure? So I was happy to find that these ProGel pens are super smooth. They seem to kind of glide across the page (nice) and dry instantly (important). No smearing here. It was like using a regular pen but smoother. I also like two other things about these pens. One is the slim profile -- easy to carry or stick in a pocket bag or car. The other is the fine point. It may sound silly but I'm not a fan of 'fat' ink. It takes up more space in an era when we fill out lots of documents that have tiny boxes and small spaces to write in. It's also a little too 'dramatic' for me -- like reading a paragraph in all capitals that makes your eyes go ga-ga. These pens are my new go-to. I donated my ragged assortment of other pens put the ProGels in our bags-cars-desks and will be buying several other colors (maybe also try the next size up and see how that works).
