This has a sliding lock to keep it closed. This seems like it would be a good idea. In practice it’s annoying and inconvenient; it keeps locking by itself while I’m using it! Finally the little red button that locks it came off entirely. I realized it didn’t need to be there; now it doesn’t lock but it works much better!

I bought this ONLY because Staples doesn’t carry the old fashioned larger stapler remover the kind that had a flanged edge on both sides for your thumb & index finger to grip and apply harder pressure. These little ones are cheap. They lock sporadically while in use. It’s just too small to remove different sized staples. It works but poorly. I guess they sell them in a 3-pack so when one breaks you can move on to a back-up a couple more times.
