Like the oven but the microwave, not so much

The oven works very well but the microwave requires too many selections in order to get it started. Specifically, I should be able to set the defaults and change them when required. Instead, I always have to select the power level, and increase the cooking time by 15 second intervals. And, I can only increase by these intervals. For example, I can't heat something only 20 seconds - it's either 15 seconds or 30 seconds.
I really miss my Kitchenaid microwave.

Afraid of My Microwave

We did a major renovation in the fall of 2017. We purchased this wall unit. The lower baking oven works great. The upper convection/microwave very randomly makes a buzzing electric sound and then there are flashes of electricity. I am VERY careful about what I put in the oven. It happened again today when I wrapped a frozen bagel in paper towel to heat for 30 seconds. It sometimes happens when I am heating my tea in a microwave safe mug. It scares the heck out of me! It can be fine for a day or even a week, but eventually will make the noise (and worse it looks like an electrical short circuit with the misfiring of light waves). What is this?!!! Hoping someone from GE will respond with advice.

Good power, even heating.

We were using GE profile 94 year model wall oven microwave combo before this. The appliances were working just great even after 26 years. What anyone can expect more than this? It has great looks, longer life and good performance. Once you installed this combo, forget it for decades.

Broke down after 1 year

This microwave is one year old, used very lightly, kept clean all the time, used food cover every single time, it stopped heating suddenly. Repair cost 300 dollars.

Dissapointed!

We replaced our 13 yr old Profile with this new version, expecting to like it as much. We don't! The microwave door opens down, not side-to-side, and does not lay flat, but angles up toward oven, making it a little difficult to get things in and out because you have to lift everything over the door. Harder for my 5'3" wife! Controls look very sleek, but are cumbersome to use. Rather than turning on the microwave with one touch of one button, now there's a nob to navigate through a series of menus to get to where you want. The lower oven racks are somewhat difficult to get in and out of their tracks, especially the extension rack. All in all, we feel it's a BIG step backward in design from our older Profile!

Does Everything!

Love my double wall Advantium oven. Upper combo oven=Microwave/Speedcook/Convect Bake is so versatile. It uses a combo of halogen heat lights and microwaves. Easily acts as a small oven for side dishes and could even do a small turkey. We are almost empty nesters and love not having to heat up the full size oven unless truly needed. There is a small learning curve on using all the fantastic settings but totally worth it. Just read the LED screen, and it tells you exactly what to do :) If you are 5’ 4” or shorter have you cabinet company lower the oven wall cabinet cutout by 2”, so can easily clean the inside of upper oven. My GC just went with standard cutout, I have to use a step stool to clean far in the back. Minor detail.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Attractive Appearance

Not happy with the design of the pull down door on the upper oven/microwave. Awkward to put items in and take items out with the door in the way. Also, not able to reach the back of the oven/microwave to clean because the door is in the way. Would NEVER purchase this design of oven/microwave again.

Love ease of use and even cooking.

I love my GE Profile appliances. Lots of cool features and easy to use and understand all the electronics. Two points to mention, though not a big deal: 1. the oven seems to take long to preheat. Maybe it's because it is newer/more efficient technology than my current one that is 20 years old; 2. the microwave beeper is so low you cannot hear it over the fan that seems to run a while after the microwave is done. I have it at max volume but hard to hear unless you are right there in the kitchen. That seems to be a design flaw.
I would recommend this to a friend!
