Great reputation well deserved: only one criticism

An excellent bag that feels top quality. It is a little heavy, but that's probably the sacrifice for more durable materials. More than enough pockets. The rip-zip function is not as easy as it looks on videos- requires quite a bit of force. Maybe that's just because the bag is so new? The downside to the rip-zip function to open the top is that while it may be convenient to rip open the top in one go, to close it you need to pull 2 zips, not one. So while it makes it convenient for getting into the bag, that's at the expense of an extra step for closing it up again. Unless I'm doing something wrong. Still, this is the only constructive criticism I can think of.

The perfect pack

It seems that the stated 27 liter capacity doesn't take into account the side pockets or even the two top pockets, since I could pack the same amount of stuff that almost entirely filled my 40 liter no-name pack into the 2 Day Assault.
With the molle webbing I can carry even more stuff - I have used this pack to carry everything I needed for 4 to 5-day trips, including an extra pair of shoes, although the total load never exceeded 25lbs.
Mine was bought through a retailer since I wanted to see the Forest color in person first before making the commitment - and I'm glad I chose it, it's exactly the same color as their Forest green Hip Monkey (a personal favorite) with the only difference being the fact that MR chose a lighter shade of green for the webbing on the 2 Day Assault as opposed to the dark green on the Hip Monkey.
The Future Yoke in L/XL is great, although at 5'11" and a 20" torso I felt like I could have also gone for the S/M. Quality and comfort is amazing, I'm looking forward to years and years of use out of this pack.
Now, if only MR makes a NICE Overload in Forest or at least Foliage, I'd be all over that pack in a heartbeat.

Look no further for the perfect day pack

This is one tough little pack loaded with features. It’s fully adjustable and can be worn comfortably with or without the waist and sternum straps. the pack comfortably fits all of the necessities for a warm weather day hike in the back country. Poncho, light jacket, extra socks, bushcraft/survival tools, water, navigation equipment, medical supplies, and food that doesn’t require cooking. Don’t expect to pack much more. In addition to day hiking, the pack is great for off road vehicle adventures, bicycling or simply as an EDC pack. I can’t recommend it enough.

Just what I was looking for

This bag for me is the perfect size as it is large enough to use as a stand alone weekend or minimalist travel and camping bag while not being too large to use daily. If you travel frequently by air you will appreciate the computer access zipper which is well designed, as well as its dimensions which are just small enough to fit in conventional airline underseat storage. The bag is the most well made bag of it's type I have seen and I feel is more than worth the price. It is also very comfortable to carry as a backpack when heavily loaded. I highly recommend it for rural, urban, or long haul travel use.

Solid Go-Bag

Purchased this from a retailer needing a “go-bag” that I could trust. Like a lot of us, I like to keep a bag ready to go in case of emergencies, natural disasters, etc. and I carry mine quite often when I’m on the road. I haven’t had this long enough to tell everyone it will last forever and your days of backpack searching are over. However, I can honestly say, being a gear guy, I’m 100 times for confident in this bag after having it 2 weeks than I ever have been with any other bag EVER. The quality of the workmanship is ridiculously good. My father, being a bit of a Scrooge sometimes, almost threw up when he asked what I paid for it (which I didnt think was unreasonable). We went on a trip
together, and he texted me this morning to say his 2DAP came in today.
Super solid bag - Buy it.

Good pack for the money, but missing some things.

This is an awesome pack for the money, it has the Y-zipper that Mystery Ranch is known for and the build quality is excellent. My only two complaints are these:
1. It does not come with a padded waist strap
2. It does not come with strap keepers built into the pack
This used to be normal, sure, but nowadays even lower end packs have these two features, and it feels like cheaping out to lack them on a pack like this, especially from such a highly renowned brand as Mystery Ranch.

Great for Travel!

I just got back from a week long trip to Costa Rica using this as my only bag. i had considered getting the urban assault due to its more casual look but chose the 2 day due to its slightly larger capacity. I found my self with extra space! I was even able to fit this bag in the under-seat area with no issues(it stuck out a little, but not complaints from anyone). The dual top compartments were great for travel, I was able to keep plenty of items quickly accessible. I also enjoyed the center zipper during travel, I was able to access items without throwing the entire contents of my bag out! I don’t carry a laptop but I did use the exterior laptop sleeve access to hold my magazines during my connecting flight walk.
I took this on many hikes throughout my trip and was pleased with the comfort, the adjustable yoke is easy to adjust but takes some playing with to get right. I did get this bag wet quite a few times and was pleased with the zipper performance, however items in the top most pocket were moist after heavy rains, the cordera(?sp) could benefit from a rain cover if you plan on taking this on wet hikes. I even used the exterior buckle straps to lash wet items(jacket, towels) on to the pack to to separate them from my dry items on the hike back.
my only desire would be to have some more internal organization similar to the urban assault bag, but I understand why these features not included on this model.
Overall I’m very pleased with this bag and would purchase this again.

Great laptop bag

I purchased the bag for carrying my laptop and work related gear - a briefcase just wasn't making it anymore, especially through airports.
Even fully loaded, the bag is comfortable on the shoulders and the weight is distributed evenly. I appreciate the way the bag is designed to cradle the laptop because the bag sees some abuse in the field.
Construction and materials look like this bag is going to serve me well for years to come.
