Sound quality is subjectable to the listener's needs and biased importance in music structure. For me, the Sonys are very powerful and as long as you have the right seal you should enjoy the sound greatly, as long as you don't just use the default settings as your settings for sound. These earphones are best used with EQ adjustments and the proper settings on your phone...an android phone..not an iPhone. Can you use an iPhone..yes but you will not get the LDAC codec which is clearly superior.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love these headphones.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really good headset. The sound on these are amazing. When you put these on you can't hear anything around you besides the music. You get totally engulfed and submerged in the music when using these. The sound quality it top notch on every gene of music I listen to. The bass in these tiny things are awesome also. They get really loud too. So sound quality is A+. When I first got these and opened them they are packaged so well nice and safe. It comes with the pair of headphones, charging/holding case, charging cable, earbuds to fit your ears, and instruction manuals. Everything you need is packed with it. These are the easiest headphones I ever paired with my phone. The instructions were very clear I actually didn't even need them to pair them up but they are unused if needed. You can follow on the prompts on your phone when pairing. There is also an app you can download for a more personalized experience. Charging these are also really easy just plug in and done the light on the case turns off when fully charged. The headphones charge and so does the case so every time you use them and put them back in the case the case charges them which is great. They stay charged for a good while and then charge quickly too. It has touch function that is easy to use to play, pause, fast-forward, rewind, ambient mode and noise cancelling mode. You can also answer and hang and phone calls that come through while your listening to music. The calls are loud nice and clear. These headphones are light weight also. I wear them to work and have them in for hours at a time and I don't have an issue with rhem. They are snug and stay in place while nodding to music. This is definitely the best set of wireless headphones I've had.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let's start with the unboxing. The box itself seems to be of high quality. The label says “Headphones: Made in Malaysia, Charging case: Made in Malaysia, USB Type-C Cable Made in Vietnam.”. More on that later. Excluding the earbuds and charging case, included in the box are informational booklets, A very short USB-A to USB-C cable. At the bottom of the box, we get to a flap that has an “S'' on the left-hand side and an “L” on the right-hand side. Under this flap are the earbud tips. Which are also color-coded from the inside. Light orange for small, light blue for large, and the tips that come on the buds are light green for medium. These ear tips seem to be of high quality. They are more of a foam ear tip than silicone but I am not sure if they are 100% foam. They seem to be a hybrid of sorts. While we are on the subject of earbud tips, although these tips are of high quality they do not fit my ears properly. I installed the large size and since they are foam, they should fit amazingly. For my ears, they did not seal. Even after several days of use. However, because the bud design that holds the tip is similar to another pair of earbuds I own, I took the silicone tips from that pair and put them on the WF-1000XM4’s. The fit, the sound, and the comfort were all improved with just the ear tips. The foam tips that came with the WF-1000XM4’s in the box did not seal to my ear, so the legendary noise cancelation was non-existent. With the silicone tips, noise cancelation works fantastically. The only other pair of earbuds that compares to the sound cancelation is the beats studio buds. The beats studio buds have way more passive noise cancellation which in turn makes active noise cancelation more effective. The problem with the beats studio buds however is even when in transparency mode or with both modes turned off, the beats studio buds still sound like I have earplugs in my ears. Making it horrible for calls, or talking to someone without taking the buds out of my ear. On the Sony WF-1000XM4’s the ambient sound mode works fantastic. The Sony Connect app allows the user to control how much of the ambient sound the user wants to hear on a level 1-20 scale. Now, even on level 20 of ambient sound mode the WF-1000XM4’s are still not quite as transparent as my Airpod Pros. They have a little more “something is blocking the sound” feel to them. The noise cancelation on the Sony WF-1000XM4’s in my ears are better by a noticeable margin compared to the Airpod Pro’s. One major problem for me using the Airpod Pro’s is that I happen to fall on the Samsung side of the phone wars. So Apple has built a wall garden I am not allowed in when I have my Airpod Pros connected to my S21 Ultra. Apple does not have an app to control features or even install updates while using the Airpods Pro on an android device. On an iPhone, everything is integrated into the UI of the iPhone. Third-party apps like assistant trigger are available but the app is borderline useless. It does not work well at all. The label on the Sony WF-1000XM4’s says that it is made for Iphones / Ipods. Yet Sony has an app on the Google Play Store called Sony Connect that works flawlessly with the Sony WF-1000XM4’s on my S21 Ultra. The app is free to download and use. The app is well designed and thought out. The Sony Connect app has tons of options to turn features on or off. The app displays the current battery percentage of each earbud and the charging case if you choose. I also like the equalizer having both preset options and custom eq options that can be saved. Good for going from one media app to another. There are many more settings to play around with within the sony connect app, it would be too long to list. The fact of the matter is, Sony spent some time developing this app. I have used the galaxy buds pro, but they fell short compared to the AirPods in my use. Sony’s WF-1000XM4’s however, do not. Pretty much every feature the Samsung galaxy buds pro had, the WF-1000XM4’s do it better. In my opinion, the Galaxy Buds Pro and the WF-1000XM4’s are similar in overall bud design. Sony did a better job in every way though. Yes, they cost more, but the consumer is getting more for the money. The WF-1000XM4’s have better touch controls. The controls are easy to actuate without hearing a “Thud” in your ear. While at the same time not being overly sensitive. The touch controls can be functionally changed in the Sony Connect app as well. Out of the box the left earbud controls are touch once to toggle between ambient mode and noise cancelation. Or touch and hold to talk to someone. Which lowers the volume of media you have playing and turns off noise cancelation so the user can talk to someone then get back to what they were doing after the user stops touching the earbud. Great feature. Another great feature is on the right earbud. Touch and hold for a couple of seconds to hear your assistant read your notifications to you. Next is the charging case. Very well thought out design. The charging case displays an led which changes color between green amber and red. Those colors are self-explanatory. The magnets that hold the buds in the case are very strong. Side note: I also changed out the ear tips on my Galaxy Buds Pro and the Buds Pro no longer fit in their case properly. The WF-1000XM4’s still fit perfectly with the new tips I put on them. I love how Sony has integrated voice alerts on the WF-1000XM4’s. The voice is very clear and direct. When putting the buds in you will get a voice alert telling you the connection status and the battery level of each earbud. Something I didn't know I wanted until I got this feature on these earbuds. It is nice to see that the WF-1000XM4’s are not produced in China. To be fair I have bought decent earbuds that were manufactured in China, the Beats Studio Buds were one pair manufactured in china. The Studio Buds lacked refinement in build quality. As do most of the Chinese-made earbuds. The WF-1000XM4’s are quality, feature-packed earbuds. So much so that they are now my new go-to earbuds for daily listening. If you are thinking about buying these earbuds, make sure you try the other size tips that come in the box. If that doesn't work, replace the tips, which sucks but the experience these Sony WF-1000XM4’s delver on android is well worth it. Don’t hesitate on buying a pair of these Sony WF-1000XM4’s, they are well worth it.

Worked great... until it didn't

Overall, the sound quality was very good. The problem with it is that the battery life after only about 6 months of use is very, very poor. The left bud only works for about 45 minutes from 100%. The right bud is better but not by much; it needs to be recharged after only 2-3 hours of use. I have 2-3 year old Samsungs and Jabras that still hold their charges for more than 6 hours.

I received these as a gift a couple of years ago and they were great. Now I can't go more than a minute and the left ear bud says the battery is drained...which it's not...and it disconnects. Super disappointing as I know these aren't cheap (well cost wise anyway). I wouldn't recommend. I can't use them anymore. This isn't just my problem..I see many people have this issue. Sony should replace them.
