I recently got these and within less than a month the left ear looses its charge so fast that it’s almost pointless to even use the headphones. I have set them aside and am using the crap back up headphones I have. That being said, the sound quality was so fantastic and all the app features are really neat. It’s a shame they don’t work.

They're losing battery on the right earbud FAST. It grew from being 5 - 10% difference, recently it's been 15, and now it's almost 30%. I don't know what to do!

The I bought the XM4 when it came out in June 2021 and was enjoying it for the good audio quality. The ear bud is on the large side but I was able to use it as I like the audio presentation. I use other ear buds for meetings or exercises and it is fine with me.
However, the situation changed after firmware 2.0 (I think) update. The XM4's battery life is horribly bad (<1 hour for the right bud, the left is a bit better but not like before the firmware update). I tried reconnect and reset and the situation stayed the same. Really disappointed. Will try to work with Sony Services and hope I can use it again.
Form the web, it seems this is related to hardware defect of early XM4s. This is , I believe, the first Sony product I have (among my many Sony stuffs) suffers hardware failure...

I bought these earbuds a year ago and were working amazing. After the software update the earbuds have been malfunctioning with battery issues and will not keep battery more than 10 min.

Battery is terrible. This product was too expensive for them to only last 14 months. After 14 months the battery shows to be charged to 100%, however they only last 10-15 minutes max.

This is a great-sounding device with a few problems. One is that sometimes, even when in its case, it pairs with my phone. The biggest problem is that one of the earbuds dies of battery power loss after about a half hour. I have not really gotten tremendous use from them, however. I used to travel every week for years, and went through many different listening devices. This one has the WORST battery life of any earphone or earbud device in my experience. I bought the new version hoping it is better.

Your headphones (earbuds) may not disconnect from the device when you place them in the charging case if the earbuds are floating in the case. Here are some things to check:
Make sure the earbuds are securely placed inside the case. If the earbuds units are floating in the charging case, they may not disconnect from Bluetooth. Note: if this symptom occurs press down on the earbuds in the case to ensure they’re fully seated Check the earbuds and the case for dust or debris on or near the charging contacts, which may prevent them from making contact with each other. If the tips are not correctly attached to the earbuds, they may not sit properly in the case. Check that the earbuds tips are securely attached.
With regard to the battery life of the WF1000XM4, while it is normal for the battery consumption rate to vary somewhat between the left and right earbuds due to function settings and conditions of use, a significant difference between the earbuds, when regularly used together, should not occur. Please try some solutions below that may help resolved the issue:
Fully charge the earbuds. Launch the Sony | Headphones Connect app, and connect the device and the headphones via Bluetooth. Great excellent sound!! really poor battery quality, it lasted 13 months, barely used it, can't even get 1/2 an hour of battery now (15 minutes at most), honestly the sound is amazing but without long lasting batteries the product is useless.
