FOUND THE PHONE A PLEASURE TO USE AND GLAD TO NOT BE TIED DOWN TO APPLE FOR EVERYTHING THIS, STILL WAITING ON 2.2 SOFTWARE BUT EVEN WITHOUT IT THE PHONE STILL ROCKS TOO MANY FEATURES TO TALK ABOUT AND LOTS OF APPS TO CHOOSE FROM, WAY TO GO SAMSUNG!!!!!!!
I have found this phone to be the easiest to use in the android family also the on screen help has been more than informative. Samsung has really hit a mark in excellence. Not to mentioned in a broad market like the cell phone bussiness the competition has made Samsung not only keep up but surpass many competitors.
Cons: battery, lack of quicker updates, finger print magnetic
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've had this phone for almost a month and I love it! I am a big texting person and i love Swype. I don't like that it take a moment for some of the stuff to load. Its huge screen is awesome to watch youtube videos on too!
Side by side comparison to the Iphone 4 was the key element in making this purchase. The enormous Super AMOLED screen dwarfed the Iphone. The display is absolutely brilliant. The integrated social networking apps are flawless with twitter, facebook and myspace. And the expandable SD card slot makes the storage incredibly large compared to other phones.
The rating would be 5 stars if the GPS were functional
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: gps not working
I would recommend this to a friend!

The only flaw I have with this phone is the location of the power button, I understand that they didn't wanna look like iPhone copy-cats but the power button is much better on top of the phone. Also the phone would be a lot easier to use while charging if the power connection location was on the bottom of the phone, I find that it feels like the power cord pulls away too hard when talking on it while it's charging.
I owned an iPhone and was tired of being held hostage by apple and the app store. In order to be able to use specific features i had to either suck it up and not have them or jailbreak it.
So.....I researched the Samsung captivate and went with it. What i have found is that not only can i utilize features that were once only available by jail breaking, but I can get most of the apps that were on the app store on the android market, with a few exceptions like Netflix and Tom Tom it is great., The phone has a bright and crystal clear AMOLED touch screen which is very responsive no real lag. A 5 megapixel camera although a Flash would have been nice but not a necessity. I think i also miss the front facing camera, but i am sure that will come out with newer versions of the phone.
Now i know that you hardcore Apple fans would most likely disagree but as a former Apple owner I see this phone once tweaked a little will far surpass the iPhone in not only sales but in overall performance, options. My hats are off to you designers at Samsung. Congrats on a job well done.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight, same apps mostly as the app store.
Cons: no flash or front facing camera
I would recommend this to a friend!
