The more I play/work with it, the more I like it. Super features, just need 2.2 upgrade so I can use my blueant car bluetooth unit.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color

I love this phone, my only complaint is the battery drains very quickly!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, very fun
Cons: battery drains fast

Do not buy!

I bought the capitvate about a month ago. I am on phone number two. The camera stopped working on the first phone so I returned it. Phone number two can not connect with the network's server, even though it can connect to 3G by using the browser. This doesn't quite make sense. At&t and samsung did nothing but have me do factory resets many times. Many apps force close. Phone can lag at times. Camera does not have a flash. A few good things- It has very nice color and display. Swype is a nice feature. This phone would be awesome if it did not have issues. When I buy a new phone, I expect it to work for at least a year. Yeah, not this phone. I spend more time trying to fix problems then I do enjoying the phone.My boyfriend has the same phone, verizon version, made my motorola. He has not had any issues. So, I suggest buying a Blackberry or Iphone (I will be doing this tomorrow)!

Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations

Although I was impress with the lightweight of this phone it didn't held up to the test of durability for me. After owning this phone for only a month and a half the LCD screen under the Super AMOLED display cracked.
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love my Captivate!!

I was going to get an iphone and am glad I didn't! The salesperson showed me this phone and she had one to let me see a working version. It is really similar to an iphone, but doesn't have the restrictions that apple has. Lots of free apps and you can get insurance!!! The only downfall is no flash on the camera, it's cousin galaxy phone for verizon does have the flash.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Lightweight

Does not Captivate me...

Dragging your feet on Froyo 2.2 won't win back customers... Also, this phone has stand-by/power off issues and poor construction. I dropped this thing on carpet from like 3' up, and the speaker stopped working. All I had to do was 'push' on it a little and it started working again, but come on... Samsung has lost me as a long-time customer, and that is a promise.

Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations

I click the Force Close icon more than any other button. The phone is very slow to respond to any user input. Opening an app will usually take 10 to 15 seconds, meanwhile the screen is black with no status. I have to pull the battery once a week because of hard lockups. The Kies software amazes me how useless it actually is. The latest version doesn't even support the Captivate SGH-I897. Where is the 2.2 upgrade?
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, slow
