Not Bad for Our First Smartphone's

Pros: Great display, music player and really like the Android platform. I'm a little bit of a Java geek so I can see myself experimenting once my warranty is up. Phone seems well put together, doesnt feel cheap in my hands and has a nice weight to it. I would recommend this to a friend.
Cons: Other than a few strange software issues, email does some strange things at times and have even had some emails disappear for whatever reason. Depending on what live wallpaper is being used the phone can become a bit laggy at times. And I am not sure why Media Hub is on here it's not supported till 2.2.
Final thoughts: The Android OS is in my opinion, in it's infant stages and with that there are always going to be some issues. I can only hope for the consumer that either the manufactures and/or the carriers realize keeping the Android OS current with updates is just as important to their success as it is Androids.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

This phone would be great if it didn't turn off by itself for no reason. You have to download an app to keep it from turning off due to inactivity. I my go all day without using my phone but I need it to stay on incase someone is trying to get a hold of me! The app is Captivate Keep Alive. Other downfall is no front facing camera and no flash! One of the expensive android phones but definitely poorest quality! Would not recommend to anyone! Get the EVO! Sorry I didn't!
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, no front facing camera, no flash
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Big Disappointment, Poor performance.

After all the great reviews I read about this phone convinced me to go out purchase it. Wow, what a disappoint and ordeal this turned out to be.
I have had to replace this phone twice during a 6 day period. Now new issues have cropped up with the newer replacement and I’m looking to replace it yet again this time perhaps from another mfg.
The GPS receiver failed to work on the first unit and the 2nd unit has very weak reception of the sat signals. I compared this to my HTC Aria GPS with an app called GPS Test. During navigation the HTC was within 1 feet of target while the Captivate was 216 feet or greater off from target. The Captivate was unable to keep latched or “captivate” the sat signals. An SNR signal of 23 or below was on average for the Captivate while the HTC’s SNR were around 48 or greater..
Further more this device display keeps blacking out/freezing up where the user is forced to remove the battery and re-boot to resolve the issue. This occurred several times during a 12 hour period three days running now. The phone's speaker is okay perhaps in an office environment but outdoors surrounded by normal ambient noise the user cannot hear the phone ring on incoming calls with the volume maxed. This was tried with several ringtones. Playback of audio is the about the same quality so your better off wearing ear buds or a blue tooth device which in a safety sensitive environment is not recommended. So, Samsung sent me an email with this in the subject line: “Samsung wants your opinion of your Galaxy S phone.” When I click on the survey link this is the message I get: “Thank you for your interest. However, at this time, we are looking for survey respondents who fit a different profile.” So go figure!!!
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Captivate on AT&T

Nice design but too many shortfalls: GPS performance is extremely poor, the phone shuts itself down with no advance warning, no Hebrew (and probably other foreign languages), upgrade to Android 2.2 takes forever. Unlike Blackberry - lack of LED forces you to turn the phone on in order to check for new email / messages. NOT recomended
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nice Features when they work

The phone has a nice bright screen, and seems to be decently built that's about all I can say.
The Phone randomly turns off, takes forever to boot when coming back on. GPS takes about 10 minutes or more to get a location. Does not have Froyo OS (2.2) Version, let alone Gingerbread OS (2.3).
I would wait for the next generation of Galaxy S Phones before buying.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Did not meet expectations, still waiting on froyo
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
