Lack of Promised O/S update

This would be a wonderful product if it supported the operating system that was promised months ago. The poor performance (promised to be fixed in Froyo), non-functional media hub (promised to be supported in Froyo), lack of app support (e.g., no Skype, no Flash 10) in this version, but promised in Froyo. Incompatible accessories (e.g., no audio output for the docking port - but...you guessed it, promised in Froyo). This product was released with a substandard O/S and isn't going to support the promised features until the update is released, which has been promised for months, but never delivered. Don't buy. There are plenty of other Droid providers. Don't get stuck with this crippled product.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, lack of continued product support
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love my new phone

I selected this phone because I was about to have hand surgery and needed a touch sensitive screen. Its very easy to use and has so many cool features. This also helped when I needed computer access I just simply use my wifi. I suggest when you charge the phone, turn it completely off and it charges much faster.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight

I switched from the iPhone 3G to the Captivate and I don't regret it! I am hooked on android and Samsung.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight

Beautiful versatility and high quality is the name of the game when it comes to the Captivate. Smart phones aren't what they were a few years ago and this one is loaded with wonderful features. This is an A+ phone that I would recommend to any tech savvy person in a heartbeat.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, live wallpapers
Cons: gps is very unreliable, pricey

Good phone but

I think this is a good phone. The one flaw that I consider to be major, is it runs android 2.1. For the price and with all the design features it really needs android 2.2. There are several apps that have been created by Google that requires android 2.2. I've had this phone for a week However I am thinking of returning it, unless I can be assured that it will be update soon. For the price I can't recommend this device without the update.

Cons: runs android 2.1
