Captivate as is, is good enough, it has to be.

I have had the phone for about 3 months and it has become part of my life. It is my Movie player, MP3 Player, calendar, phone, Internet portal for most things, alarm clock, play videos through a projector, and much more. I must say that these are all pretty standard on most smart phones. This seems very fast at doing all the stuff I want it to do but when you have heard that it will be faster as soon as Froyo is availible the coolness of the phone gets over shadowed. The things that I don't like about the phone are supposed to fixed with Froyo. This biggest issue I have about the Froyo is that it was supposed out in Sept then in Oct and its still not out in Nov and I doubt it will not be out in Dec. And now the real issue. There is no word from AT&T or Samsung as to why its delayed. Just release some news saying there is and issue with this or that. Just communitcate with us
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: no communitcation on updates

Captivating Samsung Phone

I love it. Love it, love it, love it.
I'll just go over my list of thoughts quickly:
The screen is so vivid, lots of awesome apps to stay on track and have fun, it is fun and gets the job done!, nice size to hold, sleek, not too small so you can hold it, nice shiny black - not dull.
I think Samsung really was thinking practical and sexy, with a hint of fun on this phone!
Now, with the good, there is always some bad.
I am not fond of all the swiping. Maybe if there was an arrow I could press so the screen would move to the next page like a computer. Lots of times the swiping is like a slot machine and selects something I don't want. I like the idea it can sense my fingers, but my fingers are not exact.
They should AUTOMATICALLY provide a stylus to go with it. My provider should be aware of this too. I am buying some styluses right now for a few bucks on-line. Your fingers are just too bulky for this. That is why some might prefer a normal qwerty board instead. Otherwise I LOVE IT!!!!
Oh, and one can never say enough about making ergonomics! Why not mold the phone for the CUP of the hand??? Not the shoulder, people shouldn't do that, but I see it all the time. This way being molded, the phone has less chance of slipping out of your hand and you can hold it like a ball, naturally in your hand without stress or your fingertips, which I find I do. How does one hold a RECTANGLE, by the sides.
Thanks!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, sexy, fun, great apps, business minded
Cons: not ergonomic, swiping loose, stylus is necessarry

In Love?

I Love, Love, Love my Captivate! I went through 4 smart phones and hated everyone of them...til I got my Captivate.
It's a perfect phone. The only dislikes I have are, you can't set ring tones for different contacts and the txt theme can't change. Other than that, the phone is really great!
My husband loved mine and had to have his own. My sister loves it and can't wait to get hers! Great Job Samsung on an amazing phone!
I heard and found out from so much research that people who got the iPhone 4 and regular iPhone's took their iPhones back and got the Captivate and loved it so much more than the iPhone. So, better than the hottest thing out there lately....I think so!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, great picture for watching videos

They won't update the OS

Overall I'm pretty happy with the phone, but only after updating the OS on my own and getting a hardcore case for it (I dropped my first Captivate 3 feet and destroyed it). I don't know whether it's Samsung's fault or that of my service provider here in the US, but not rolling out the Froyo update has made me wary of Samsung products and actually figured into my decision not to buy a Samsung television (are you listening, Samsung?). Another issue is battery life: be prepared to shell out more for extra chargers and cables, maybe an extra battery. If I don't charge it at work, it's dead by the ride home. Other than that, it's a great phone.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations, fragile, no os update, battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointed - no BlueTooth Voice dialing

I waited for Android 2.2 (FROYO) to write this review. I expected the upgrade to include bluetooth voice dialing. It does not and that is very disappointing. I need to be able to tap the button on my bluetooth headset and tell the phone to call someone. I do not want to be fumbling to unlock the phone to tap the Google microphone to make a call.
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great phone
on May 22, 2011

I have had this phone for 6 months now, and it has not ceased to live up to my expectations. I have not had any problems with this phone except for a little bit of lag here and there, but I have near 100 apps so its understandable. My parents both own an iPhone4, and I'd pick the Samsung Captivate over their iPhone any day.
The battery life, in my opinion, is great. Lasts the perfect amount of time each day, sometimes with a bit extra at the end of the day.
The 4 inch screen is just plain beautiful. I have compared it to many other screens and the super AMOLED screen is one of the best screens on a phone.
The 16 GB internal storage is fantastic, It can hold as many games as your heart desires with extra space for more.
Overall, the phone is amazing.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

Pros/cons

Cons: cannot get cool apps for this phone yet (but it is coming) and the camera feature is hard to use if you are trying to take a pic of yourself to send.
Pros: I totally love this phone. It puts the iPhone to shame. Amazing applications pre-programmed, great video and camera picture quality (love the zoom feature on the camera), and love the touch screen.
I haven't regretted the purchase at all and usually I have buyer's remorse after a phone purchase.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: cannot take your own picture very easy.

I have had the Galaxy S for a while now and I could not see myself using a regular phone (flip) ever again. In fact I am amazed I ever got along without it. It is loaded with features and everyday I seem to discover something new I have not used before. My mornings start out with the alarm starting my day. Then I might check the calendar for my agenda or to remind me of events. Even though I have a GPS I often find myself using the Maps or Navigation apps. The Daily Briefing lets me know what is going on in the world, whether to bring my umbrella to work and how well my stocks are doing.
I do not use my laptop as much anymore because I can access all my email accounts right from my phone and if I need to know just about anything, I just do a quick search and find the answers. If I want to be more productive, relax with a crossword, or listen to jazz on the internet, there is app for it. On top of all that there is so much more I have not discovered yet. Oh yes, I have read a dozen or more books recently and I have access to my entire music collection wherever I go now. That is why I enjoy and depend on my Galaxy S.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, extremely versatile
I would recommend this to a friend!
