Great hardware...outdated software!!!

You can have a great piece of hardware but with old software you have a big piece of out dated junk. Until we get the Froyo update I feel like this phone is outdated. It runs slow for the hardware it has and we need an update!
Cons: Did not meet expectations, no froyo...android 2.2

Things will be smoother once Froyo is available, but overall a fantastic phone. It's really easy to use and a great tool!

I love this phone. I have run IOS4, WinMo 6.5 Pro, Palm, WP7 and now Android. The Android system has met my needs best and the Captivate with SWYPE makes it even better. I don't have little dainty fingers so the virtual keyboard has been a bit of a problem but with SWYPE, problem solved. My text input is faster and more accurate than it has been with any of the other systems I have used. The other systems either held you captive and had few choices for system customization making them a perfect play phone/media device but not a business/work device or they were so cumbersome and unstable they were a nuisance to use. The Captivate is fast, customizable, easy to use, file transfer of (documents, pdf, excel, etc.) "without a wifi connection" what a novel idea... You guys know who I am referring to. For those of you considering it as a business phone, you can readily transfer, modify, copy, cut or paste files to and from the phone as an extension drive on your computer, no fuss, no muss, no wifi connection necessary. Media files can be readily transferred with Windows Media Player again no wifi necessary. It has plenty of storage, loads of camera and video options. The only thing it is missing is a led flash for the camera. I use bluetooth with a Jawbone Icon about 95% of the time and haven't experienced the intermittent disconnect or limited 6' range of any of the other phones I have had. Bluetooth range is good, the connection is stable, call quality is good on both ends and I have no trouble answering or ending a call from either the headset or handset. I flashed the rom with the Android 2.2 update, added a few apps and I couldn't be more pleased with the device.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, fast, swype, exchange e-mail as well as personal accounts., dual touch zoom, camera quality and options., excellent bluetooth range and call quality., file transfer without wifi., huge memory capacity., expandable to 32 mb sd.

I've been using Android for a while and with this phone is just amazing. Browsing is a breeze, keyboard is superb, AMOLED Impressive and DLNA tech has left me speachless. Fully featured media phone and video playback of movies is awsome. I have 4 email accounts synced plus work exchange and all work flawlessly. Battery is good and if you manage phone resources with Advanced Task Killer app it can last even more!!!!!! I would recommend this phone for both Fun and Work.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, built quality, large display, hd recording, super slim factor!!!!!
Cons: could have dual speakers

Actually, I was considering to buy iphone4 but I like samsung brand as well. so I decided to use galaxy s first. I may use iphone later. Anyways, it is fantastic to me so far. lots of fun stuff and useful things. I love it

I am crazy about this phone

I wanted to get rid of the old iPhone so I studied different phones. I found the Captivate, OMG!!!! This has got to be the most awsome phone I have ever owned....I love the live background(we actually sit and feed our fake fish that are swimming around the icons on the screen). The reception is great, where other cells were getting one or two bars, my Captivate would have three to five. It is so nice having all of the features ( SD Card memory expansion, Bluetooth file transferring) instead of choosing which ones you want the most. You would really need to look at all the features of this amazing phone. Thank you to Samsung for making this phone that has totally....well....Captivated me.

Cons: no camera flash

Awesome phone. Was concerned about touch screen with large hands and it's great. It would be nice if it had a bit of a grip on the sides as it's so slick it's easy to drop or slide out of your hands.
