A bit short for me

I was an iphone3 owner and switched to the Captivate. Although I know this is not the iphone, I liked a few important features that Captivate does not have. 1) be able to initiate a call THRU my bluetooth, 2) use my car radio usb port without disabling my bluetooth, 3) when I used my car radio usb port and I received a call, it would stop the music until I was done with my call, and 4) setting up contacts is a bit confusing.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Apps poor sound quality

I have had this phone for 1 month and I am happy with the way this phone works. The keyboard is easy to use, and the apps while limited at this point work well. My only negitive is the phone sound quality. Most calls have a hollow scrachy sound quality while playing music sounds ok.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: sound quality of calls

Best phone I ever used

Had the iphone 4, had the torch, The Captivate does everything better and can't say enough for the Android OS.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

Good Feature Set Bad Performance

The phone hangs frequently. Kies is still not mature.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: poor performance, hangs/crashes frequently, call quality unpredictable

GPS is still not updated

I've been waiting for almost two months now for the GPS update and it's still not done. The phone is good but if you are using the GPS or an app involving the GPS the phone is useless!!
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: Not high def, Did not meet expectations

I had an iphone 3g and I was thinking about buying the iPhone4,i checked reveiws,I went to the stores and nothing could compare to the Captivate.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: no flash or zoom for camera

This phone is in my opinion the best phone available right now..maybe not the captivate version, but the galaxy s in general is...the captivate is missing only two things that prevent it from being the best...a flash for the camera and a front facing camera...other than these two things it is the best of the best. The processor is extremely fast and handles everything I throw at it, and the GPU is the best currently available on a phone and it makes the graphics fly and with the gorgeous 4" superamoled screen it is a beauty. Battery life is extremely good on it too which I was surprised since it's such a powerful phone. My review of the Galaxy S Captivate running the leaked 2.2 froyo update for it haha
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, cpu and gpu performance
Cons: no front facing camera, no flash
I would recommend this to a friend!

Truly the best phone that I have ever had. Productivity, Multimedia, you name it. Bluetooth with file transfer, camera and HD video. And OMG, Swype is the best!!!
