I've been looking for a new phone for a while. I didn't want to hop on the "piece of fruit" bandwagon. I wanted a comparable alternative. Well you've done it! This phone is unbelievable! Super fast, easy to use, user friendly. I love the fact that it can multi-task with out shutting down. My old phone was real good at locking up or just turning itself off, if you were playing music, and went to a webpage at the same time.... I have tried to crash this phone to test its limits, and I have been unsuccessful. This makes me very happy. Its a good size, lightweight, and this screen is life-like. The pictures taken with this phone, are better and clearer than with my current camera too! I am so happy that you made this phone, and I bought it!!!
I just love my Captivate, I only thing, the battery seems go down fast... but so far so good. Big, big screen...
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very Good Mobile android, powerful, efficient and fast. I regret that the GPS does not work as expected. I hope you resolve the delay of the location of the satellites. If this happens, my ranking would be excellent.
Cons: gps still not working after jh7 update, persistent lag issue, battery life poor
I would recommend this to a friend!

Had High Hopes-Better Than Expected

This phone is much better than expected. I contemplated upgrading to the iPhone 4 from my 3g until i saw the commercials for the Captivate. After doing some research I decided to go into the store and play around with both the phones and after that it was a no brainer. Had a few issues with dropped calls at first brought it in store and somehow something changed in the network configuration so once that was fixed I've had no problems. There's so many great features on this phone and not one bad thing I can think of. I love the Swype technology for texting it is so easy and fast once you learn it. I can play music that's on my computer from my phone. The internet loads extremely fast. Just watched a tv episode yesterday on it and the picture is AMAZING. The speaker quality is really good, nice and loud when all the way up. Alot more I can't even think of. Plus with the android market there's so many more things you can do on this phone.
I love this phone. Android (from Google) still has a few bugs, but the phone hardware is great. Wish it had a front-facing camera, but then again, I'd probably never use it. Screen is Amazing. Very fast device. Sometimes I have wifi connectivity problems... like 10 times/day i have to disable/restart my wifi connection but I think this might be a Google android issue. Wish there were actual buttons on the bottom instead of all touch. The 4 buttons are invisible unless you touch the screen, which illuminates the 4 buttons.. and unfortunately there is no way to change the 4 second timout, so you will pretty much always press the wrong button every time you have to press a button. Also, the proximity sensor is a great feature for people that hold this thing up to their face.. It locks the screen and turns the display off until you move the handset away from your face, then you can press buttons.. however.... here's a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY annoying problem.. The device is quite large and most everybody uses a bluetooth headset. The proximity sensor does nothing at all when using bluetooth. While in a call, you have to press a button every 5 seconds to disable the screen lock and display timout.. otherwise you have to press the wakeup button on the side of the phone before you can dial an extension, enter digits, mute, hold, add a call, or anything other functions frequently used while on a call. The in-call screen lock/timeout has no configurable option. No way to change it... you must always keep pressing buttons while using bluetooth if you wish to accept another call or anything else. This is a horribly devastating bug.
Also, Samsungs dimensions are incorrect for this device. It is actually over a HALF INCH taller than advertised.
Like every other Samsung device that I own... there is nothing better. But I do wish they would address these bugs.
Cons: specs are wrong (dimensions), no settings for in-call screen timeout, no settings for screen lock timeout
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is hands down the best Android phone available. It has all the features you need, is super fast after a little tweaking, marvelous screen, spectacular at taking and viewing almost any kind of video, and kills the iPhone in features and customization.
This is my first smartphone and it has yet to fall short of my expectations. I chose this phone over the iPhone, despite all the atempts of my family and friends to persuade me otherwise, and I believe it to as good if not better than the iPhone.
