Hate this phone!!

When phone is in no service area, then back in service area, must be turned off & on several times before receiving missed texts. I liked the features and enjoyed the phone, but it is completely useless if I cannot receive texts. Where I work has limited service, only one place on my desk where it works. If it gets moved off of that spot, have to go outside building and turn on & off. Can't do that at will, I am a teacher. Only have 30 minutes during the day free, don't want to spend that in the parking lot messing with phone.
Cons: unrelieable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Samsung has delivered on yet another great device. Great design and look. Apart from the known GPS issue (among many Captivate owners and myself), it is an outstanding device (GPS doesn't lock on). When Samsung releases the fix, it'll be even better and I'll be able to say it's the best smartphone on the market.

I waited for all the hype about the iPhone to wane. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Mac guy and would've loved to use the syncing features. But enough about THEM. The Captivate is freaking amazing. Lots of home screens, smart network access/recognition, TouchWiz works as promised. And the piece de resistance... SWYPE. I was hesitant about physical keyboards (big thumbs) and wasn't crazy about the onscreen keyboards. Swype answers in a big way. Love it. The camera is great (not sure why it's panned in professional reviews). HD video? Are you serious... awesome. So far loving the Android platform.

Was amazed with the screen and how fast the apps ran on the phone. It is actually faster that my home pc. Not happy with the battery life, have to charge the phone two to three times a day with the usage that is put on it. Would like to see a larger battery offered. Having some problems registering the device, keeps telling my my S/N is wrong. I have verified it several times. And finding the drivers for my computer. Will keeps looking though! Wife has never used this type of phone and she is even starting to fall for it. Over all very impressed with this phone and the features it has. Always had signal issues with old phone, never with this one.

Finally another great touchscreen phone on At&T

This phone is great. The screen size seems daunting at first but quickly becomes the standard for new phones once you watch one video on it. The screen is also very brilliant in color. It moves very fast and Touchwiz puts a lot of things right at your fingertips that stock Android wouldnt. The inclusion of 3 different keyboards makes it great for anyone to use. The fact that is has so much internal memory means games galore and all without slowdown. My only letdown really is that in order to make the colors so good there seems to be a slight blue tint to everything and that the capacitive buttons at the bottom dont stay lit for long enough.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, design compared to the other galaxy s devices, fast
Cons: Not high def

Really good, missing a few things

The graphics and performance of this phone are top notch and the lack of a physical keyboard is excusable with Swype built in. The lack of a front-facing camera, lack of Froyo, and GPS bugs (easy workarounds available) do not diminish the overall value of the phone much. The default interface needs work having only 4 icons at the bottom (defaults are phone, email, browser, and app drawer) is a little annoying for someone that uses the phone, email, browser, and text messages as much as I do, but the app market has the interface covered with third party solutions. The resolution is quite high enough for functionality, but some pixelation can be seen if you are paying attention.
Froyo and a GPS bug fix will make this one of the premier Android phones on the market, leaving my only complaint which cannot be solved as the lack of a front-facing camera.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, very stable
Cons: gps bugs, no froyo yet, no front-facing camera

I normally only want a cell phone to be a cell phone. As a small business owner, I needed a smart phone. For the past 5 years, I owned Windows Mobile phones and was reluctant to change.
The first time I saw this phone, I knew that I wanted it. I could actually see the screen for a change. The older I get the more important that is.
I've shown it to many friends and clients, and everyone has had to check it out more. Several have purchased it already just based on being able to hold and use it.
I can sync with outlook 3rd party app, and use Kies to keep everything synched.
Can't wait for Froyo.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, no cons except battery life and listed in cons.
Cons: preinstalled unremovable att apps. no froyo.
I would recommend this to a friend!
