I purchased this phone over a year ago it was released with the android 2.1. Not long after I updated to 2.2 flawlessly. I loved the features of this phone I could quickly change my screen brightness simply by pressing and holding the top of the phone and swiping right to brighten or left to dim. This was a major time saver for me. I absolutely loved this phone with absolutely no complaints other than I would have loved to have seen a front facing camera on it. Only downfall I had with my particular phone was after upgrading to Android 2.3 my phone ran in to many problems. I had to return my phone for repair to have a tethering error corrected the phone would not switch to WiFi to 3G without an error popping up repeatedly. Although that issue was repaired the 2.3 update still left my phone dropping calls with plenty of service.
I still use a Samsung Captivate and it is still holding up well. No visible sctratches or dents and dings so I can definitely attest to the build quality of the device. Almost two years old now and it looks almost brand new still. With custom ROMs this phone is still current. ICS roms seem to run well on it. When it came out it was the top of the line Android phone and even though I'm about to get the new GS3 next week I am still impressed with how relevant this device still is. Great for an entry level device for anyone interested in checking out Android.
I bought this phone about a month or two before the samsung galaxy S2 came out. Needless to say, this phone is a beta test..gone wrong. It worked rather well for the first few months and certain features in the touch screen and keyboard were a little hard to get used to, but not terrible. Then I got a text message for a necessary system upgrade. The directions were terrible and after I upgraded, the phone works horribly! Its constantly freezing and shutting off, I get errors when I open things, its just a terrible, horrible, no good phone now. Not worth the expense.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
I would recommend this to a friend!
