I love this phone. I couldn't ask for more. Am a geek, I need options, so this fits best for me. And it is super durable. I dropped it ton of times, still its going great. I gave only 4 for performance coz it does get stuck sometimes when using GPS. Its been happening from the time I got my update for 2.3. I am waiting on Galaxy S3 from a while now. Hope Samsung gets it out soon before I go for another phone.
This was my wife and my's first smart phone. It was a really great phone to get into the whole andriod/smartphone thing. It was reliable and worked well. You only have to be careful with the more power hungry apps of today as this phone is aging. Otherwise a great phone.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Inexpensive

This phone contains all the basic features needed for today's smartphone user. The design, quality, and value of the phone are wonderful. Only negative is it does not have the performance necessary for someone who is an avid multi-tasker or advanced user.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color

Captivate is an excellent android phone and can be use as of both personal and a business use , and it's light weight and design do appeal , - I am waiting for galaxy III !
I really wanted to like this phone. The screen grabbed me from the first moment I saw it - it is gorgeous! The colors and clarity just jump out at you. But it is useless in direct sunlight; so unless you are a vampire and never go outside, you will have to hunch over and try to make some shade. It is not a "smartphone", I discovered, so synching your contacts or calendar with a computer is impossible. It has lots of memory, especially if you add an SD card, but over half the RAM is grabbed by services and programs that you can not stop. (Well, you can stop them, but they just start right up again by themselves.) So even if you shut down everything possible and deny access to auto-update, you can still launch an angry bird and watch it hang motionless in the air while your phone is doing something else. But the killer for me is that it is not a very good phone. Connecting and disconnecting takes 10 seconds, probably due to the RAM issue, and just answering is almost impossible with one hand. I'm going with Blackberry.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations, insufficient ram and processor speed
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

"Total turn OFF" - here's why!

For some reason my phone won't stay "on" unless I have the music player running in the background, all the time! I have tried everything else and within 10 minutes "POOF" there she blows.... "OFF~!"
I have searched online for answers, talked to friends who have the same or similar phones and no one seems to have any clue as to what or why this could be happening. Samsung website has no answers for me. There is no product recall on this particular phone either. I am at a complete loss. There is no where to go for answers and I don't know what else to do! I feel like Alice in Wonderland right now!
So, with the media volume turned all the way down; thank goodness it is a separate entity in itself, I have my music player running in the background on my phone ALLLL the time! Having the music player running doesn't interfere with incoming calls or instant messages that I can tell so far anyway. But I have to re-charge my battery 2 x's a day just because of the high usage. I'm charging every morning around 7A.M. and then again around 5P.M. Now I am NOT a big talker or texter, so I find this re-charging to be extremely often and in short life spans for the battery duration. However I could be wrong. (I don't claim to know everything!) Maybe someone out there knows something that can help; if so please, do so! Thanks! I hope if you purchase this phone you have better luck than I have had! :0( Extremely Disappointed!
Pros: Realistic color
Cons: always shuts off, have to keep music player running to keep ph on, heavy for its size
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
