Some probs w this phone...

Ive had this phone (samsung captivate galaxy s). This is the first smart phone I have ever had, and i have to say... i really miss my old flip or slide phones. Yea, the mp3 player is nice to have, and the camera is wayy better on this phone than my old basic phones. But what Ive noticed, at least w my phone, is that my internet seems to be very "spotty". Also, Ive run into the problem before where my phone has frozen, and then shuts down and reboots itself all on its own. Or sometimes I notice that no one has called or texted me for an entire day, and when i look at my phone, Ive noticed it says I have no service, and upon further inspection, Ive found that it goes into something called "airplane mode" all on its own without me ever putting that feature on. To be honest, I hate the Airplane mode feature and it has cause nothing but problems for me and i wish i could delete that stupid app. Ive never run into soo many problems with trying to make a simple call or send a simple text with this phone. My old flip phone did just what it was designed to do. Call and text. A communication device. I feel these phones have gone too far and put more emphasis on the bells and whistles rather than clarity of a call or being able to send a simple text. The problems I am now experiencing is that it does not notify me when I get an important email, the 3g internet says it is off when there is clearly an icon showing I am receiving internet service. Ive had others look at this phone and are stumped as to why my phone lags more than normal when going on the internet, a bit of lag time in texts, and how often times I miss calls because the phone simply does not recognize an incoming call. You know what?... I am now going to change my survey question here asking if I would recommend this product to a friend from "Yes" to "No".
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, requires a computer savvy person, more of a carry along computer than a phone, drops calls and sometimes does not send texts, laggy internet, on/off switch is poorly located, no optional light for camera, micro sd is a bit inconvenient to get to
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Changes from Galaxy I to Galaxy II
on December 31, 2011

I just got new Galaxy II phone as a replacement for my Galaxy I. Love both of those phones, they are gate.
First thing I noticed that the back of my G-II is plastic, not metal as in G-I...
The power jack is on the bottom not on the top, so I need to adopt all my settings in the car to use for a different power location.
Most of us use the phone not just for calling but for many different things, one of the is navigation. Every time device is online it consumes a lot of energy and battery drains in no time, so it is nice to have it plugged while driving, the problem is that if you are driving all of your car adapters are on the right and it makes so inconvenient to have wires on the top or on the bottom. I've seen other phones with the plug on the left, which is also inconvenient.
My suggestion: why not make at least 2 inputs for charging?
those just a USB ports anyway, and it may find more usage in the future as well, not just for charging but also for connecting multiple devices together and as driver I'll have an option to choose which part would work better with my setup.
Over all - I love Samsung products for durability and can rely on it. My other G-I was heavily used 2 years without any issue, it even survived small cycle in washing machine...
Thank you Samsung for your good products,
I hope my next phone will have 2 power jacks!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Lightweight

A very wise investment

Extremely user friendly operation of all functions and capabilities. The only negative comment that would be on my behalf is the fact that the battery life span is no where near what was expected. No matter what settings phone is on or what the battery loses charge after 30 to 45 minutes or spuratic use of the internet and must be re-connected to a charger. Other than that issue I am extremely pleased with the product.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color
